Wine-Searcher

The Pro version of this app searches so many sites around the world that you can find some amazing bottles that can be shipped to you. It is where you can find another bottle of something that you have had that you want to find again. I found the last bottle in the world of the best cognac that I have ever had for sale- better than Louis XIII and is a high proof single vintage older than 150 yrs old cognac. Can’t tell you what is is because I am still looking for another bottle. So good that I bought 5 bottles after my first taste almost 20 years ago. Wine-Searcher is the go to place for finding the bottle that you want.

Edit: bug described below can be fixed by creating an account, syncing cellar to cloud, reinstalling the app. Based on a very thorough email reply from the developer I’m changing to five stars just for going beyond the call of duty for a free app. Been using this about a year. It seems to have more-or-less the same functionality as other wine apps, and I chose this because of the ad-free experience. The search and recognition function is ok but not spectacular. One complaint is that the app insists on saving photos of labels (and it is awkward to delete them). I’d like to turn that off entirely.. just snap, look up, don’t save. Also recently the app has a bug that does not remove “saved for later” wines from the cellar either when deleted or changed to a star rating (the app creates a second copy with the new rating which then gets deleted if you try to delete the first that still has a flag). Anyway, it’s an ok app.

I use it constantly to check best price nationally compared to price in store I am shopping in for a particular wine. If I find a wine at, close to or better yet below the lowest price on wine searcher I know it’s a good deal. I also use it to find wines in my area I want to buy and pick up to avoid shipping costs. The information is highly accurate. How they collect so much detailed info I have no idea . Wine searcher has info on almost every major wine seller eg K&L, wine exchange, hi-time, Zachys, total wine. There are a few exceptions . Costco is not on wine searcher. Well worth the nominal cost to be a pro user. It gives every listing in their database. Kudos to wine searcher team . I think it is an Australian company.
