I used to be OBSESSED with the app… until it became to frustrating. I eat the same 50 foods and I added them to "my foods" so I could easily find them. Hence, adding my 50 foods took me hours, but it was worth the time and money (this app is not cheap) because my life is stressful enough and it’s a miracle I even have time to work out let alone log my 50 foods on my one day off from work. Now they are all gone. I contacted the developers and they told me to delete the app and reload. I did that but the foods are still not there. I’ll use the app until it expires, but I’ll probably switch bc of this glitch.
I’d give this app a 4/5 if it connected to the health app on my phone. I’m a health nut, I constantly track calories even if I’m bulking, maintaining, or cutting. I see a lot of people complaining about having to manually enter certain macros etc and they’re honestly just being lazy, takes a couple minutes tops. Do it yourself you babies. This app is pretty cool especially since I can type into AI and describe low-fat meals and what I used to cook and it’ll actually predict what low-fat ingredients I used. It saves me time overall and I love it. HOWEVER, not being able to track calories burned through physical activity is a major no go. I say this because people who don’t know much about losing weight will rely on these calories solely and starve themselves due to their body requiring more than a simple base number. This will discourage them in the long run and be counter productive. I’m currently using this app alongside MyFitnessPal(which I switched to after using loseit for a couple years). So I would make a full change over to this app IF this app supported fitness tracking and steps. I can’t commit to pay for a subscription or give this app full trust until that’s implemented. Love the app, would love to swap, but it’s just no viable at this point and I can see people starving themselves sick with this app if they’re active.
The AI needs some work. When I put in “I ate a yogurt with 130 calories and 18g of protein” because I KNOW what’s in there, and then it standardizes it to a 100g serving with 100 calories and 6g of protein… it’s just wrong on all accounts. Then I have to find a description of a different food that approximates the macros I want. And even then I’ll have to adjust the serving size to get the calories and protein where it should be. All for something that I ate that I KNOW THE VALUES OF. It’s pretty weak when you know what something is and you just want to put it in exactly as it is. There needs to be an option to adjust the macros/calories not just serving size and food itself. On that note, a big improvement would be if you could edit the description you typed instead of having to redo it altogether. The AI seems very handy in some situations though. Compared to my wife’s app (Lose It) it seemed to get a strange dinner of protein pasta, pulled pork, and Parmesan close to the values she got on her app and all I had to do was describe it. The AI is definitely impressive in some respects. Maybe the software design that totally relies on the AI is the problem. It requires clever wording and thinking sometimes just to get it to do a basic task, ironically enough. This type of tracking is definitely convenient when it works but especially irritating when it doesn’t.
