I’ve been ranking music for years on an Excel sheet. This year I finally decided to move to a platform. First I tried MusicBoard, but the user interface kind of stinks and you can only rate out of 5 stars. Then I tried Album of the Year, which has a great user interface, but it doesn’t have an app and doesn’t let you rate individual songs. I tried Rate Your Music, but again, no app and a bad interface. Echo is exactly what I’ve been waiting for, as long as the user base grows. It’s a sleek design, an easy to operate, and I can do it all on my phone. It really is the Beli of music (not the Lettboxd of music) because of the ranking system and the social aspect. Hopefully it blows up in the same way so that the user base can grow. As of now, it’s about 1/3 the size of MusicBoard and none of my contacts have a profile.
This is easily the best new app I’ve discovered in YEARS. I’ve been a huge fan of music ranking websites like Album Of The Year for years now, but there has never been a truly good platform for music ranking on a mobile app. Well that’s over now. Pack it up because Echo is literally the best possible app for this. The ranking system is easily the best one I’ve ever used. Being able to both manually score a record or compare it to other albums you’ve ranked to determine its place is GENIUS! I love the social aspects as well like discussions, reading each other’s reviews, and being able to collect badges, achievements, and ranks. The ranking system allows you to quickly build up a huge collection of music you love or dislike with your own personalized reviews! The developer(s) have found the perfect blend of thorough and easy to use. I’ve never seen a brand new, growing platform as amazing as this. The loop of ranking albums and watching my collection of album covers grow is starting to replace doomscrolling on insta/twitter. My new morning coffee routine is doing a few album rankings and reading other ones from people! I’m so happy to have found Echo at the ground floor stage. The future planned features excite me too! Get this app. You will NOT regret it!
Echo is literally Letterboxd for music, and I’ve been wanting it for quite some time now… it’s crazy we’re only just getting it. It’s very user-friendly, gives you multiple ways to rate things depending on your preferences, and has a great community so far. Very interactive and addictive to use. Also, if you’ve been wanting to get into new music but haven’t been really listening to enough of it, this app will get you to without even forcing it or anything. I’ve listened to AT LEAST one new album every day since I’ve downloaded - it’s just got some influence that makes that easier somehow. The app is in its early stages still, but the developer’s future additions seem promising. It’s already super interactive from the get-go, so I’m really excited to see the future of it and how much more it’ll grow. Definitely download this!!
