Thursday markets themselves pretty well, although the events leave a lot wanting. A lot of events have a high male to female gender ratio. I did go to one more balanced one however, so that’s not true for all of them. There isn’t any structure to Thursday’s events. They throw you into an artsy, (admittedly pretty cool) space with a bar, and then for 2 hrs, you’re on your own figuring out how to connect with people. It might work for other people; however, I’ve struggled to connect with people in this environment. The environment is loud with music in the background. A number of people are inebriated by alcohol. And there’s no prompt or initial reason to connect with others. I think this is one step better than dating apps. However, still a lot less fulfilling than doing your hobbies, building your own community, and finding your purpose. I also think there are better live dating events out there with more structure. I’d say be cautious of the good marketing. Judge something by what it is, and see if that’s a good fit for you.

I’ve gone to quite of a few of these events. The first few were all men, which made it awful for trying to talk to a woman. I felt like I was just adding pressure since they were already getting flocked to by everyone, so I end up not talking to them. But the last few I went to the ratio was a lot better. Made some good conversation. My only complaint is, please lower the volume of the music at these events. I’m there to meet new people and I can’t cause the DJ is trying so hard to make it loud. You don’t have good conversations by shouting over the music
