Tribal: Meaningful Dating

After spending a non-negotiable 20 minutes to setup your profile before doing anything else; I only wanted a free account but was charged money for a subscription, despite the app saying it would be a 7-day trial and getting charged would not happen until the free trial ends. Before the company denies it, I checked my bank account and can see it in there. More disappointingly, after the first few profile recommendations every other person recommended had not been active for ‘over a month’. I live in highly populated area in Sydney and it appears to be a ghost town for this app. No events on. Good concept in theory I thought but seems like the majority aren’t into it. People’s audio message recordings are 2 seconds of nothing, defeats the purpose of this style of dating.

I’ve really enjoyed my experience using this app! The layout is clean and easy to navigate, and I like how the features make it simple to connect with people who actually share similar interests. I’ve had some really genuine conversations and it feels like the community here is friendlier compared to other apps I’ve tried. The matching process seems thoughtful and not just random swipes, which makes it feel like my time isn’t being wasted. Definitely one of the better dating apps out there – highly recommend giving it a try!

Tribal has a refreshing concept. Conversations come first, and most people on it are actually decent to chat with. It’s a nice change from the usual swipe-and-ghost routine. But the downside: after 72 hours, once your photos are finally revealed, a lot of matches disappear. You could have a genuine 2–3 days of solid back-and-forth, only to get unmatched the moment they see your pics. It kind of defeats the purpose and just ends up feeling like wasted time. Honestly, if the app allowed even one unblurred photo upfront, it’d save everyone the frustration.
