8Words: Daily Word Puzzle

I really love this game, and the 8-way Wordle concept is so much fun and such a cool challenge. But this app could use some help. Today I couldn’t solve the puzzle because the answer to my final word was 6 letters long. (The word was AFRAID. I had revealed that the word needed A, F, I, R, and D, but I couldn’t figure out what 5-letter word those letters could make together. Turns out it was a 6-letter word. As far as I know, Wordle-style games never use more than 5 letters unless explicitly specified.) This has only happened once, but that shouldn’t be happening. It would also be a neat feature if the app could have an area to store statistics. I love that the app has allowed users the function of scrolling through their answers. It would just be cool if we could see, for instance, our average score or something. UPDATE: I just checked the game today, in December 2024, and it doesn’t work at all anymore. Inputting a word doesn’t generate any hints anymore; the letters are always gray.

I cannot see my score unless I copy and paste into another app such as text messaging. There are also no settings or at least I cannot figure out where to click to find them. There is no explanation of how scoring is applied. I’ve found all 8 words with three rows remaining and scored lower than when I found 8 words with no remaining rows. The results indicate some numbers and some watches. I’m just a bit confused. The really annoying part for me, however, occurs when I’m playing the game and guess a word with a double letter. If the correct word only has a single letter it will still highlight the double letter yellow so I think I’ve got to guess a word with that double letter. That’s misleading and not how the other apps function. I’ll share an example - Correct word = NOISE Word Guess = INNER This game highlights yellow = INNE It should highlight yellow = INE I spent time trying to figure out a word with double N and was going too far off track. Thanks for considering fixing this.

Love the app, especially the challenge it presents every day. However, sometime there are errors in the puzzle. Today, #148, it wasn’t solvable as the first word needed 6 letter. Last week there were a couple of days when two of the words were the same. Small problems with a great game.
