I was listening to the set-up rules, and it said that you could put The terrain hexes wherever you want. However I listened to the three player rules and they said The terrain hexes have a designated position. Maybe I will have to consult the rules after all. Otherwise, this app is awesome!

This has been very useful to learn the game. You need a little patience to get through all the 95 slides. If they cut it down a little it will be better but still we were able to nail all the rules with the tutorial..
There are slight mistakes in the tutorial, so we skipped the actions after we reached halfway and only listened to what was being said after a point. This made the tutorial move faster.

My oldest grandson got the basic game two Christmas ago age 10 he learned the game by himself and got the entire family hooked on it. Since that time he has gotten all the other sets and expansions. We have all of the rest of our family hooked.
Great game for all ages from 5 up.
I applaud the entire team for this great design and creativity.

Then the "Catan Game Assistant" is just the right thing for you! From game setup to independent play, our innovative tutorial introduces you step by step to the game in an entertaining manner. All you need is the "Settlers of Catan" board game, 2 or 3 opponents, and this app, which one of the participating players runs on his smartphone.
In the tutorial (for 3 or 4 players), you can move at your own pace through a sequential slide show featuring game related graphics, presented by our "Professor Easy." For each graphic, our friendly professor explains which actions should be performed by the player whose turn it is. Of course, you can also read the texts to your opponents.
After the game setup and a couple of turns, the tutorial ends and you have learned all game rules. And here's the best part: at this point, you and your opponents simply continue playing!
The entire game should take about 90 minutes - 45 minutes for the tutorial and another 45 minutes to finish the game. This app offers you a convenient and time-saving alternative to studying the game rules as usual!
