This game is very fun, but I encountered tons of bugs in Crazy Carnevil and the balancing is just horrendous for mobile (same for all the chapter 2 levels), in Mascot Mayhem Joykill will still move towards you and do things even when the player is stunned, after escaping, in the cutscene where you see Doug’s memories, the timer from escaping the castle is still there and killed me in a place you’re not supposed to die in, and broke the sequence so bad I had to restart the entire 30 minute level again. It really just feels like not a lot of testing went into these cause most of these bugs and balancing issues could have been fixed pre-launch if they’d had any testing whatsoever.
The game is amazing and does a good job at recreating the original game. But there are some issues. First, the boss fight for the stranger sewers level is near impossible, with all the things you have to avoid in a small room. And the other issue is that the autosave isn’t that useful. It only saves for the start of each level and not boss stages or 2nd zones. Overall still pretty good though.
I think that this is a fun and well done recreation of the base game for the most part, but I encountered a couple of issues that I just want to be addressed. In Elementary Evil I dashed through one of the barriers to enter the level but it didn’t break and I just phased through it. Didn’t think much of it at the time, but when I came across the barrier again in the Malak chase to enter the classroom, it was still there and I couldn’t break through it, soft locking me and forcing me to restart. In Deadly Decadence the teleport seemed a little buggy and I ended up clipping through some walls in the hedge maze and even clipped out of the maze itself at one point. Other than that, no other bugs to report at the time. I thought the game played well up until I reached the boss fights for Deadly Decadence and Stranger Sewers. The Titan Watcher is mainly just annoying and with Malak on your tail it’s very difficult to break the lock, but my main grip is with Doom Ducky. There’s a lot of problems I have with this. It’s to easy to get a little too close to Doom Ducky and just get killed instantly. The supporting Dread Duckies are a little too fast and should probably be nerfed. And finally the room is too small and there are too many objects to bump into and end your run all because a single mistake is all it takes for the Dread Duckies to catch up to you. I think that while in the boss fight, Doug should be able to pass through the valve and the ring alter to decrease your chances of this happening. That’s about it. Hope everyone else enjoys the game, at least some of these problems get addressed, and can’t wait for the next chapter.
