Programming isโฆ adequate for what I need. I enjoy not having to plan it out myself. The app is genuinely poorly designed. Itโs complicated to use, not clear on where settings are or what they change. Iโll constantly end up in menus with no way to back out of them or simply a black screen, requiring a full app restart. The poor app interface is making me consider canceling my subscription. Update: I cancelled my subscription after writing this review after the app broke multiple times during my next workout. The app doesnโt take into account any of my inputs regarding sleep, soreness, etc. stating I barely slept and am incredibly sore will have the same workout as if I stated I got 10 hours of sleep and feel like a god. It also doesnโt take into account my preference for low vs high reps. In the current update version there will be a program setting to โselect workoutโ that when clicked gives me a blank screen with the only option being โview all workoutsโ. Why am I PAYING a workout planning app to simply build the program myself? Even when I do select a workout, I am not taken back to the program page but have to manually back out of the 3 menus deep. In the program planning the app will state is it giving me โlow repsโ and recommend 12 reps in a set. Additionally, it will state in the warmup planning it is building for RPE 7 for 6 reps and the actual plan will state RPE 6 for 5, among similar glaring issues that point to low quality control.
Everyone knows that training apps and nutrition apps are difficult to get right. The reason why I support the EvolveAI team and use EvolveAI on a daily basis for my own training is because I understand the incredible amount of coaching expertise and science-based recommendations that went into the programming. Now with nutrition and macro tracking layered on top in an easy user interface, I wonโt have to switch between multiple apps for my training and nutrition endeavors. Is it perfect? No. Is it moving incrementally closer to the โidealโ training and nutrition solution? Absolutely.
A couple weeks into training now and having previously done Garrettโs AI programming (back in the excel sheet days) and the programs are always great and Iโve had awesome results. The app is a lot more convenient to use and the price is more than reasonable. The only thing Iโd wish for currently is the ability to collapse exercises when on the exercise screen. With a bunch of lifts and accessories I find myself scrolling to find my current lift(s) and the weights and having to move past lifts Iโve already done. It would be very convenient to collapse lifts to indicate which ones Iโm not looking at anymore or donโt need to look at for the rest of the day. But itโs not a deal breaker and would just be a nice to have I think.
