For years, I was the only Bitcoiner I knew. I tried to tell family and friends about bitcoin, but they all thought I was involved in a scam or a cult. I needed some legit bitcoin people in my life, people who knew what I knew and could speak on it thoughtfully. I found them on this app, which connects you to Bitcoiners and meetups in your area. The weekend of the last halving, I went to two different celebration meetups that I learned about on this app, and I met a bunch of cool, interesting, and intelligent people I never would have known without this app. And in so doing, I gained perspective on the bitcoin community’s vitality and culture. This app empowers Bitcoiners by bringing them together socially and intellectually, and I highly recommend it, because we all must make our own Bitcoin journey, but none of us need make it alone.

This app specifically makes it very easy to connect with like minded individuals in your area (bitcoiners). The app creator is engaged with the community and is very responsive (if you have questions and decide to reach out). There are groups for global and local bitcoiners to learn and connect. It is still a relatively young app, so it can only grow and expand. Looking forward to future updates and developments.
*the only point of consideration in my review is that I DID purchase the one time $99 lifetime membership to access full features, so my review might not be as relatable to the experience of the free and unpaid version/use of app.

So, I take issue with the fee for this app.
It’s $5 a month, $40/year, $100 forever membership. I probably wouldn’t have issue with this if when you sign up it would allow you to see how many other people in your area have the app with an active membership. This is like a gym charging you a membership fee but you can’t see what equipment they have. I don’t care if I can’t message them until I have a subscription- at least I’ll know if it’s with my money to start a membership. And let’s be honest- I also don’t care if they downloaded the app 2 years ago and haven’t logged on since, I want to know about active members. But asking $5 just to “check” if there are other Bitcoin people around me, only to find out there are none, or that the nearest people listed are from a stale database and they aren’t even actively subscribed to the app anymore is useless. I’d rather use NOSTR or X if I want to talk to Bitcoin people.
