I think that Sleep Journey is very useful to help someone to sleep. It has a numerous, positive concept of bringing a person to sleep, through the night and into the morning. Some good ideas there. Music was suggested, I like that option. And if the person wakes at night, don’t do anything that would wake you further. That to me was suggested ‘stay up!’. I heard other advice that I like better-read a boring book, not anything that’s quiet. You want to go to sleep, not sleep at the reading spot. There’s more.
The one night I used the app, I found it almost a carbon copy of “Calm.”The addition of a sleep coach and all the exercises set it outside of “Calm’s” domain. With a short fuse on cancellation and “my plan” delay, I did not really have time to explore and see if “Journey” was a better fit for me. By now I should know better. Folks who publish apps often include a “free trial” of three days to a week sometimes a month. The money making side of that is I have to remember to cancel. I forget to cancel, I get charged. I suspect I might have been willing to spend the money for “Journey” even though my health plan gives me “Calm” for free. Without sufficient time to really dig in and explore it’s benefits, I canceled… two hours after the charge showed up on my Apple Card. I believe the folks at the company will refund my money when I ask. If not I’ll append this review. This is really an issue I believe Apple needs to address. A Positive way for consumers would be to get a limited premium membership. A week should would be sufficient. At the end of that week the app reverts to a stripped down version unless the user subscribed.
Been using this AP for a little over a week, trialed then purchased it because it’s been so helpful. I love how you get a coach who’ll personally zoom meet if needed, but for me the email worked best for now due to illness unpredictable scheduling. My coach promptly and very compassionately gets back to me with any questions, which is greatly appreciated. I had been waking hourly after recovering from the virus. I love the educational nightly brief talk or reads (your choice) then you can pick meditation, sleep stories, or music to help you unwind, relax, lower anxiety & stress, which I find very helpful. The AP reminds you of the bed time routine you choose an hour before so you can prepare and stay on course. It’s very encouraging in the mornings too, asking how sleep was, your energy levels, and moods to keep you regulated for best sleep routine and tweak your plan if needed. I highly recommend it. As an experienced oncology RN, I wish I had this for all my patient’s. Anyone with anxiety, medical issues that disrupt sleep, or those working high stress jobs, just needing to get in better sleep hygiene will benefit from this genius AP. Restorative sleep is vital to good health. THANK YOU JOURNEY for your thoughtful, compassionate, creative, expert experienced professionals who put this super AP together! Well worth it! 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 10 stars from me! Jane Finn RN, BSN I suffer with severe small fiber peripheral neuropathies, from chronic thiamine deficiency. The nerve pain often affects me worse at night. This really helps distract, relax the mind and body, and gets me off to sleep in no time now. I’m so grateful to JOURNEY! ❤️👍🏼
