Pepper - Recipe Organizer

I would give this a 5-star rating if they had just two features that seem to have been missed. Yes, this app is better than the large competitor (you’ve probably seen a bunch of adds for, too). I saw a cooking influencer suggest this app, so I tried both and this one seems to be much more intuitive and user friendly… save for the inability to make edits to the recipe after it has been posted. It also does not actually save a changed cover photo when entering the recipe if it populates an image first. You ca. try, but it always reverts. I have tried talking with a customer service rep and they said that it should be included in the next update (couldn’t give me a date, though)- well, it just updated and it still isn’t fixed. If those two things are included on a future update I can go back and change my review because all the other features are great!

I always read through things before downloading so I don’t get something that will charge me after a trial. Somehow during the process of enrolling I missed the free version of the app & got signed up for a trial version that said it would charge me at the end. I reached out to them & they responded quickly, clearly knew their product by providing detailed questions about how I signed up to make sure I wasn’t being charged, and went in from their end to verify that I wasn’t being charged on the free version. Definitely went above & beyond to be helpful!

I really like the concept and have been importing recipes from social media. I like the import feature, but notice that it is not always accurate and makes up recipe steps. Like from thin air. It must be the AI. I randomly noticed some ingredients were not listed in the imported recipes or the measurements were wrong. But recently I imported a one pan dish and the video (from FB) didn’t list the recipe or steps. So Pepper made them up and invented an oven step… complete with making up the temperature and length of time to be cooked! None of that was in the recipe. This makes me suspicious of all recipes I’ve imported previously. It works fine for bookmarking my recipes from social media, but I’m not going to trust the ingredients or steps going forward. I was considering buying premium, but I will not after these issues. I tried to contact support to report this bug, but the app doesn’t list the email, instead tries to open my mail app, which didn’t work.
