Reviews: What People Think About Proton Calendar: Secure Events

Really enjoy this calendar and its security 👍 There are a few features that I wish would exist though. I’d appreciate a search option to be able to search for an event, instead of having to go through each Day until I find it. I’d also love it if it would remember events I’ve created in the past, so that it could auto-fill in some of the specifics for frequently added events (ie. the event location, notifications, which specific calendar). Lastly (and I think this might be a bug), I’d like it to remember how long I’ve set the duration for specific calendar events to be. For example, in settings, I’ve set my “work” calendar’s duration for events to be 120 minutes, but, no matter which calendar I select, it defaults to 30 minutes so I have to change it manually. *I generally use the app, so some of these may be available on a desktop browser, and if so, please let me know!* Overall, I like this calendar a lot, and offer these desires as I’d love to see them come into fruition to make my Experience more easeful. These are really just conveniences, but ones that I became used to when I used the apple calendar before. This is now my sole calendar and I’m very grateful for it! Appreciate all the effort that has gone into creating it and the security it offers ♥️

Performs the basics with reminders, good visualization, location, and making it recurring. Missing the ability to share a calendar currently, which is currently being worked on. This is a core function of a calendar though, and should integrate better with their email services, even if these functions are restricted to other working Proton users. I hate to rate something down for a service it openly declares is not currently implemented, this is pretty central to a calendar app and is currently keeping me from fully migrating to Proton Calendar. The app also needs additional security found on Proton Mail and Proton Drive where it allows for the use of a password/pin and/or biometric on startup. Looking forward to the updates, and of course I will update my review when things change. edit: Thank you for the reply! I did not see sharing was an option since I primarily use the app on iOS. I will try it out from the PC see if I can share and then still update and use it from iOS. Not ideal, but at least a work around.

Doesn’t function by itself. They don’t allow you to change the timezone for the app from GMT +0 Afrikaans unless you go login in through their desktop or web app, where they let you change it there. If I travel, I have to login into the web client each time to manually change the time zone of events to the appear in the local time zone. What’s wild is when you create the event, it asks you what time and time zone you want to input for this specific event but then converts it to GMT +0 after you hit save. I can’t schedule a reoccurring appointment before noon at the 30 mark. If I try to make or edit a reoccurring appointment at 11:30, 10:30, 7:30 etc I get “Events synchronization error: Response error.” Every time you install an app vs use a web app, you have less control over the information they access and to me it makes no sense to give up meta data about my device for what essentially is just a mirror for the web app. I only switched to Proton a month ago, but who knows how long it’s been like this. When people can’t schedule appointments in their calendar at certain times, why are the updates about anything other than fixing basic calendar functions for this calendar app?
