Brother P-touch Design&Print 2

For whatever reason, Brother has two P-Touch label apps in the App Store, both support my P-Touch Cube Pro. I downloaded both, tried them both, and decided that overall this is the better app (also seems to be the newer app). There are a few changes I want to see. In the other app, when I place an icon and text box, the width of the label will change to whatever is needed. This app does that too, except the icon and text are immediately next to each other with no way to add space between them. In the other app I can simply drag the box and it will make the label wider to accommodate, adding space between. This is a much better experience, especially for creative labels which this app is specifically meant for. The other change I want to say is more font properties, specifically the ability to change line height. I also want a type case feature added. Sure, I can type in the text in the case I want, but I would be much easier to just say make the text all caps, all lowercase, or mixed. Lastly, I would really like to be able to sync my saved label designs with the P-Touch Editor app for Mac.

Great software easy to use, and lots of options, and I use it all the time, but it’s missing a few features I’m surprised about that would make usability much better. 1) Cannot modify the prebuilt templates outside of changing text and font type — would like to change icons or remove blocks or even rearrange them slightly. It’s more a form than a template. As it is, they’re not super useful and the home page is all about the mostly useless templates. 2) Prebuilt templates have rotated text, but cannot rotate text in custom labels. If I cannot modify a template, I should at least be able to recreate it. 3) Cannot add a QR outside prebuilt templates (or importing an image). Which would be fine if I could customize templates further. 4) Limited label color options. Includes only Brother official options, but not even all of them. I use orange and green with black text a lot, but I cannot set the colors to that. Color picker for those additional label colors would be great! Then brother doesn’t need to keep updating the database. 5) Saved Label organization could use help — sort by is only newest saved. Could use sort by name option, as well as ability to rename labels.

For making basic labels, it’s great. You can make *really* decent labels very easily, with more options than I really anticipated (even with having done mild research). It would be cool to have the option to get advanced options — like a computer connection or even just tracking/kerning/leading for designers or something, but I understand that’s asking a lot and it’s just a label maker. It would trouble anyone else accidentally tapping into it, but I am saying I would *pay* for that feature. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy with it as-is — it’s a very cool label maker/app combo and I’d totally recommend it.
