Patio - College Communities

I first joined patio when I was a senior in high school looking to find friends who would be going to college with me. I met SO many people who are my friends even to this day while I am a current college student, one of them is my roommate!! Patio is great for keeping it exclusive to people in the college so no creeps join the chats- plus every student in the patio has access to join whatever group they want so there is no exclusivity. Whereas, with groupme you have to get a link and anyone can kick you out at any point (I actually had a problem with a groupme chat doing that last semester). Patio has done nothing less than facilitate good community building for incoming college freshman and help them find friends in their interests and I am very thankful for that.

It’s hard to meet/interact with other students on social platforms like Snapchat/Instagram (group chat limit, etc.), and especially in a time like this. Patio is the perfect place to talk to other students. At first, I had a little trouble navigating because there were so many features but after a little, it was much easier. It’s easy to make friends through the common interests filter and then making private group chats with them. I absolutely love Patio and recommend it to anyone looking to make more friends in their college class. If Patio isn’t available for the school you’re attending, you should definitely reach out to the 2025 Instagram and ask them to become an ambassador!!!

When I first got Patio I had no clue what it was. I expected it to be like GroupMe but it is so different. I downloaded this app for college and it is insanely convenient. I used to have to send 20 different links to people but on Patio you can click “Discover Groups” and it shows all of the chats made in that group/school. You can be in multiple chats also! You can also find people with similar interests and filter through people. You can have your zodiac sign, your favorite music, the major or career field you’re interested in, hobbies, anything you can imagine. On each persons account you can click their page see their picture, their bio, their major, the year they are graduating, their pronouns, and their socials. There is also a feature to message people individually. You can create small groups and chat with them in the DMs tab. I love this app so much because it’s convenient. It is so easy. Everything is on one platform. Honestly I don’t think I can use anything else. I will recommend Patio to everyone and use it for everything. It’s so simple and easy.
