Hercules CP Mobile

This app allows operation of laundry machines. You add money to your account, tell it which machine you want to start, confirm your choice and then press the start button on the machine. Usually works fine but rarely the server is down. My account only lost value once in 3+ years using the app. Handy washing machine timers are visible and alert you when the cycle time has elapsed (unfortunately the timers in the machines are poorly calibrated so this feature is not as helpful as it otherwise should be). There are no timers for the dryers, which could be helpful if they would program those into the app. Overall no complaints.

If carrying laundry, fitting it in the machine, having it break or bleach stain clothes, is a common hatred of yours, don’t worry! It’s on app form now. My university uses this because they just can’t get enough of my mullah, and want more money from me. Awesome! Luckily, this app is sometimes incredibly annoying. If slightly infuriating you is part of your laundry routine, then why not make it a digital nightmare too. I had to get this app a year ago, and the login was pretty annoying. Asking for a password with odd requirements, constantly forgetting who I am on the app, and having to resign in even though I kindly clicked the ‘remember me’ button as if I was being lowered into my grave talking to my grand children. But this app rather have me fill out the same information, with its password rules making me forget my password I chose every time, whenever it wants too. For safety! So dashingly fun. And now that I’m back to my university, I have to sign in all over but it’s even more annoying this time! Somehow. And since it’s been a bit, it’s asking for my card information all over again. Even though it’s greedy practices pertaining to this school, should be looking at my credit card number as if it were awards on a shelf. But alas, I had to put it all in again, only for it to make me sign in again right after. Even though I did earlier this day. Why? Because WHY NOT. And for all of that it didn’t even work, and I’m stuck here having put in my number more times than I can count. Daring today aren’t we? I’d honestly reach into Peter Dinklage’s Dinkle to fish out quarters and carry them in a sock, than use this app. Some things just don’t need to be changed, like change. I’d honestly just rather have a place where I can insert my card, and be asked if I’m tipping the machine 15 or 20% after I did all the work. So let’s just say that yes, laundry can be more infuriating, just you wait! We’ve got an app for it now!

Leaving this review for any building managers considering switching their washers over to Hercules’ bluetooth-enabled washers/dryers + app: This system just doesnt work and is an overall massive downgrade. The app has a hard time connecting to bluetooth, even if your bluetooth is on, which means you might not be able to turn the washer on after you load it. If your credit card expired, since you now pay through the app, it wont tell you it needs a new one, it will just say “FAILED” repeatedly without telling your residents why. It has baffling error messages and seems to have an incredibly hard time communicating with washers & dryers, even in the best of times (when the bluetooth connects!). If you uninstall the app and reinstall it, just to give these idiots a chance to make it up to you, nothing will change, but you will have spent an extra 15 minutes trying to do your laundry. In other words, it makes something very simple extremely complicated at best, and totally impossible at worst. In addition to not being a technology business, Hercules is also not a customer service business, which means your building managers will be the one dealing with all your mad residents, not them. So please save everyone the agony and stick to the good old washers and dryers with buttons that actual humans press to turn on.
