Great amount of documentaries. But what’s the point of having a download option in the app if you still need an internet connection to launch the app? ”Downloaded” a couple of interesting docs to watch on a flight. On the plane “please check your Internet connectivity and try again”… I don’t want to check my Internet, I just want to watch the docs I “downloaded”. Unfortunately I don’t get a lot of time to watch things at home, so most of my screen time is travel. Unfortunately for whatever reason this app doesn’t support offline viewing. Also zero subtitles. Some docs have unbalanced sound (not big production style), so subtitles would be greatly beneficial so you don’t have a constant loud background noise while trying to listen to whatever is being said. Great potential, but still needs work. Not sure I’ll be continuing my subscription.

I love documentaries so this app was a welcome surprise. I’ve had it for 3 or 4 days and have at least 20 in my watchlist already. Topics are well represented by a diverse type of film. I’d love a weather category as well (hint hint). However, using the app on two different AppleTV devices, it crashes on both. Sometimes it’s just a matter of hitting the back button and the hitting play. But it just completely crashed and sent me back to the AppleTV homepage. Fix this issue and I’ll happily give the extra star.

Thanks DocPlay! I started with a COVID / lockdown trial, and just kept finding more & more content that we can’t wait to watch. Such reasonable pricing, excellent selection of titles - and growing. Now just need more hours in the week to get thru them. Recommended ✅
