I’m never quick to make the digital transition to things life but I was optimistic about this one. Turns out my optimism was misguided.
This app is very fussy and glitchy when trying to report a harvest. I tried 3 times to report and finally got it on the fourth try, although I’m not sure how. I just kept pressing my finger all over the screen to submit responses.
Very frustrating and it’s too bad. The process from what I can see has a lot of promise when it comes to simplifying things. But the glitches and hang-ups are very frustrating.

Latest version in August 2023 no longer launches. It starts to open and immediately closes. I have had similar problems in the past.
The solution seems to be delete the app and install it again. Add your user profile and it may work again.

I swear all the negative reviews on this must be from people who are technologically challenged or just not very bright in the first place.
I’ve literally never had a problem with this app and it’s worked perfectly for me across multiple platforms. it’s got all my licenses and permits on here and it’s really easy to harvest report straight from this app.

HuntFishNY is the official New York State Department of Environmental Conservation mobile app that provides our sportsmen/women a simple way to display their licenses and privileges and view important hunting and fishing related information. In addition to the many resources DEC's website offers for hunters, trappers and anglers across the state, our HuntFishNY mobile app offers instant mobile access to electronic versions of your sporting licenses, privileges and permits; the ease of reporting your game harvests immediately; and links to useful information like season date summaries, fishing information, a DEC Contact list, and much more. It also includes a feature called the Tackle Box that provides anglers with one stop shopping for waterbody-specific information on fishing regulations, stocking, and fishing/boating access sites. Tackle Box is part of DEC’s continued efforts to make fishing easier, more enjoyable and more accessible to all!
