The database has more in it than it appears at first glance. Don’t rely on the populated list when typing in your food to indicate if it is in there. For example, when I typed in coconut, looking for coconut water, only coconut populated, and then the list cleared when I proceeded to type water, but I hit search and coconut water came up. That said, measurements are in grams and everything in the US is ounces. I am annoyed that glycemic load is locked. That should be included in the base version, as should the values on foods. The developer said in other reviews that this app contains the same info as the website, but with more features, yet there is no search on the website and coconut water isn’t listed, so that assertion is false. I will not pay the high one-time fee to upgrade to pro for full access. $5 would be reasonable for what it offers.
I’ve recently been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. I downloaded a couple other Apps looking for something to easily track my glucose levels and they were difficult to navigate, and were more focused on weight loss and had monthly subscriptions. This App is easy to understand and puts the glucose levels right on top. Perfect. Could maybe have more foods, but if you enter the food you want in 1 time, it’s there for you tue next time. Seems really good so far!
I was recently asked to try the GI diet by my neurologist, and had such a hard time with trying to find the GI of foods. This app was recommend to me by someone on reddit and so far has been a LIFESAVER. I just put in my meals and Recipes, and it tells me the GI,GL, and nutrition info of my meal! That being said, there are definitely foods that are missing from this app, even though stuff like shark fin is in there? Definitely interesting. I would one day recommend something like a barcode scanner for it to help find the GI of products/add products that aren’t in the food log (tall order, but would be cool). Overall it’s wonderful though. If you’re just starting out, I highly recommend it.
