As the owner of the Ember Mug 2, I have chosen this particular device due to the fact that the travel tumbler does not hold a larger volume, and has a relatively higher cost. However, I am particularly concerned about the recent software update. The developers have removed Apple Watch support, never provided a the home screen widget, or complication. Given my current employment situation, where I am unable to keep my phone with me while working, this update has made it challenging to adjust the temperature of the mug. Previously, I could conveniently adjust the temperature on my Apple Watch, which was a significant advantage. The absence of a complication, home screen widget, or Apple Watch support has effectively rendered the app useless. Over the past couple of weeks, I have had to repeatedly sign into the app. The aforementioned “update” has resulted in the loss of many of the features that made the mug exceptional. My only option now is to resume the last temperature used by pressing the power button. If the developers intend to significantly reduce the functionality of the application, As distressing as it is to say, I may need to consider alternative products. While I will miss using this mug, I believe that this treatment of loyal customers is unacceptable. Why lobotomize a fantastic product with bad programming.
Whether you’re drinking coffee or tea, the ember mug will keep it at the right temperature. As you continue drinking your beverage, you can decide to lower the temperature. Using the app on the phone is fantastic. This allows you to adjust the temperature as you drink your beverage. So when you near the end of the cup, you can lower the temperature so if you have any cream in your coffee, it doesn’t get too hot. The trick I found using the cup is to open the application first on your phone and make sure you have a cup that is empty on the application dialogue. Then fill your cup with hot coffee right from the machine. I use a Kcup machine. you will notice the temperature rise on the application on your phone. Then I’ll add cream and the temperature typically goes down but then adjust the temperature to 142 which is where I like it within seconds and I’m ready to drink my coffee ☕️. As I get beyond the halfway point in the cup, I turn the temperature down to about 135 so I highly recommend this cup to anyone who likes to drink a hot beverage and keeps hot for at least two hours. I’ve tried other brands and they simply don’t compare and we’re much more complicated to use. I also have a Ember Travel mug, which works great as well. The difference is it has temperature settings right in the side of the mug or you can use the app if you’d like. Ember did a great job making this product and it’s well worth the money.
I’ve had this product for a week and I love it I use it several times a day. However, the mug is already having some issues. At least once a day I have issues reconnecting the mug to my phone. I have the latest software, but when I open the app it says the bluetooth isn’t turned on. If I open the settings, the bluetooth option will say I’m connected to my ember mug.... I’ve already had to reboot the firmware and restart my phone numerous times. With regards to the actual product specs: a one hour utility time for a one-and-a-half hour charging time? That’s ridiculous. No, I don’t need two hours to drink my coffee; Rather, I drink two coffees + an unquantifiable amount of tea over the course of any given day. It’s nice to keep my beverages consistently warm over the course of my day at work. The plug-in saucer is a bit campy. Couldn’t they at least figure out a wireless charging situation between the mug and saucer? The copper prods are a bit ghastly-looking. Not to mention the charging “saucer” is not liquid-proof and needs to stay completely dry.... so much for catching spills. Despite all my complaints, I’ve still used this 20+ times in the last five days, so the concept is clearly solid and the product is functional! I just wish it fit more seamlessly into my routine.
