When I first downloaded the app, I really appreciated how it had minimal UI, so it really just is getting up to the minute updates on your loved one’s hospital experience. Quick, to the point, made me feel reassured and connected to my mom when I couldn’t physically be there with her at the hospital. After the last update for the prodecure, the app asked for feedback and I gave it very positive feedback, because I got exactly what I signed up for— timely updates on my mom’s surgery. But then it stopped sending any reports at all, but my mom was not done in the hospital. She had a complication, and ended up needing secondary surgery to fix something (no worries now, she is doing well). I was stressed and so worried, and I was getting no info from the hospital, despite having this app specifically dedicated to getting updates from them about her stay. The fact that they only sent updates for the first procedure and stopped giving any updates when she had complications from said surgery and had to go into surgery again made me a nervous wreck, and put way too much stress on the one family member who could be with her to update all of us on his own while also staying by her side and talking to her care team. Idk if this is an issue with the app or with the specific hospital, but I really think there needs to be an option to allow follow up if the planned procedure ends up having secondary consequences. If the app only works to update you when things are perfect and going exactly as planned, then you’ve defeated the purpose of informing your users honestly about the patient’s situation. Also PLEASE allow an ability to turn off the loud bell noise every time you open an update. My phone was on silent so I very much didn’t expect a loud noise to come out of nowhere.
Our world was under going major surgery and we were all very anxious. This app was a god sent in providing real time updates. Gone are the days of waiting around for updates. With each profess while in surgery we were informed. Once the doctor finished we received notice he was on his way to chat. We received a final update when in recovery. This app allowed us to move around the hospital and keep our nerves at bay. Thank you so much to the developers. Wish this service was extended to ICU.
A friend of mine is in the hospital and sent me a link to EASE. I downloaded it first thing in the morning and kept waiting for update following her surgery that morning. I received no alerts or updates. I thought perhaps I had not selected the right options, although I don’t remember being offered any when I first signed in. So, I thought if I delete the app and reinstall it I could check for any options on how to receive messages. BIG mistake! When I tried to log in the second time I downloaded it, it told me that name and password were already in use and would not let me use the app. It was then that I looked at the help menu and saw, in small print, that you should not delete it. The “do not delete“ warning should be in large print in the very beginning of the set up, not in the help menu which people do not always look at. Also, every other app I’ve had has allowed me to log in again after I delete and reinstall it. If you use the same login phone number and password it doesn’t make sense that you wouldn’t be able to get back in. I consider that a design flaw.
