I have not been addicted to a game since I stumbled upon royal match years ago as I am to this game! I have actually completed backstage but still have 1 characters level 4 I need to beat and that’s it! Some may say the enemies cheat, but they carry the same equipment to each battle. So, you have to change your equipment to win over which enemy you are facing. It’s a strategy game that makes you think. You do not need to battle every enemy, but some characters/levels you need to in order to get equipment. Wish there was a sequel to the game! I will play the bonus levels next.

I’m so excited others can experience this great game for free! To be upfront: this is a roguelike/lite, so each run is independent of one another. What you get from winning is unlocking new characters and stages that those characters can play through (twists on the current run - like a more curated ascension system). If you like slay the spire, this is the kind of game for you. There’s no meta-progression where you unlock power ups that help you through all your runs however (just like slay the spire), so if that’s a deal breaker be warned. The game just has so much charm in the art, music, characters and simple yet surprisingly deep gameplay to top it off. Some of the different characters feel like different games altogether, and I love that. Some of the challenges are really tricky (and I also love that!). You have to think of it more like a traditional level based game than a classic roguelike (or meta-progression based roguelite), where each run is a complete-able challenge and then you move onto the next one (I recommend going in waves, doing one episode of each character in order, and then doing the second for each character, to help keep things fresh). Anyway, feel free to try it out. It might feel breezier and less deep than slay the spire, but as I got a few runs deep I really began to appreciate its simple yet nuanced take on the genre. There is strategy here, for sure. P.S. as a hint - map ordering matters a lot, especially on later episodes.

This game is so fun! The premise is that you’re on a game show hosted by Lady Luck where you can win your heart’s desire by fighting your way through her dungeons. But the game show is not-so-secretly rigged against you and Lady Luck not-so-secretly wants you to lose and be trapped in her dungeons for all eternity… On the game show, you must play through a series of episodes with a cast of different characters and master their different fighting styles. There’s the classic Warrior, sure, but there’s also the Inventor, who can convert your gear into gadgets, the Witch, who uses dice to activate spells in her spell book and then use them accordingly, and many more. To complicate things further, the equipment that you can use and its effectiveness are determined by a dice roll (a little like in a tabletop RPG). So as you would expect, the game is very difficult. There’s a lot of trial and error involved in beating the game. But when I finally beat Lady Luck, it felt satisfying and awesome. Honestly, beating any episode felt pretty satisfying (especially when the boss was Drake, he was a lot harder to fight than the others). The game also features a cool soundtrack, humorous writing, cute credits, and bonus episodes. I had a blast playing this game, and I cannot recommend it enough. Also, I found out that when you lose a battle and the “character was defeated” message comes up, if you close the app instead of clicking through, when you reopen the app, it will start the battle over instead of making you restart the episode. This is a hack that saved me from having to restart the episode several times. Hope it helps.
