If you’re a “Trekkie” in any way big or small,

This game is worth taking for a spin. If you have any interest in any of the shows, characters, history, anything that catches your interest about anything Star Trek, check it out. I read the reviews and I think they aren’t quite on par. It seems that people are looking for a big, huge, triple A, RPG - if you are, then you might not appreciate this game for what it is. Honestly, to me It looks great, it’s funny in points if you know anything about the Star Trek universe, you can speed up battle if you find it repetitive (I take it slow and savor the gameplay), it’s a lot of fun and I think old school turn based RPG gamers who enjoy a nice paced fun and simplistic (I don’t mean as in easy, just not too many unnecessary tactics to complicate the game spending more time learning controls instead of playing the game), can enjoy this. There’s nothing to lose, no additional DLC to buy to play - tif you want a game to chill with at your own pace and see your favorite Star Trek characters, and not be upset when you lose that extra person in your transport party that you knew in every episode wouldn’t come back since they weren’t a main, lol, give it a spin and you just might like it (a lot)! Not bad at all - 4.95 out of 5 stars. I took of .5 just for not having a better inventory system, in my opinion, but it doesn’t detract by any means. The makers did great and it is enjoyable in so many ways.

Good game, bad AI

My only complaint is how stupid characters play when using the auto-play feature. It shouldn’t be too hard to implement some logic like maybe the doctor should heal the person about to be defeated instead of the one with full health and thousands of shields. Or maybe a warrior shouldn’t taunt a whole other squad when they have no hit points. It’s amazing how many times I just see my team destroyed because of the dumbest decisions. It’s almost like the players choose random moves against random targets. Another great scenario, 2 players remaining, both almost defeated - the next attack will win the round. And they’ll go back and forth doing up morale or tech increase and cleans and whatever… 4 rounds go back and forth before one of the characters deals 5hp and wins the round; just the simplest of logic would be great!

What the H

Lots of monotony. Building characters, character levels, character traits by performing certain tasks. It’s a fairly simple concept - one that’s been beaten to an absolute pulp and then vaporized…well, you get the idea. Reason for the 3 stars: Every once in a while, the leveling is COMPLETELY off for the predicted combat difficulty. Sometimes in the player’s favor and sometimes in favor of the game. This is extremely frustrating given you can be 8 levels deep on a mission and lose one or two of your crew and have to start all over again - especially when the predicted difficulty is quoted as “Low”. So now you can’t finish, you’ve wasted tons of time with absolutely no clue as to why. There are also a few very simple player experience bugs that should have been fixed long ago like scrolling through characters is jumpy, upgrading equipment doesn’t appear to take affect until you back out and then choose that character again can you see it, etc. Not to mention the PVP area is a complete joke, pitting player against player with very little evidence as to why even though one team out-powers the other by thousands, the less powerful team manages to completely obliterate the stronger team. No reason. No direction. A crap section of the game that I always put on autopilot and let the “crap” chips randomly fall where they may. Still, the overall game is straight forward but the monotony overpowers any gainers and positive aspects of the game. I like it, but it’s just not enough for long term play.
