The game runs much more smoothly with the latest update but the layout makes it so hard to play that I find myself playing a lot less. In the prior version, you could play the game in portrait mode on an iPad mini and view your hand and the map at the same time. Why would you make the map and all components smaller and change the layout so if you view your hand, it covers part of the board? If anything, smaller components should give you more space so there is no overlap. The latest update also removed some of the highlights on quests you have the resources for when it is time to complete them. This last comment is really user based but why add more steps to a game? It seems like for every part of every move have to hit the green button. I know with the prior game you choose and then hit select but it seems like with this update you added an extra button or steps to ever move. And I mean move, not turn so in a turn there could but like 3 extra steps. This was a great and fun mobile version of game. The update literally killed the playability of the game. Add a revert please so I can play this game again
Update: It's getting better. Some bugs are being resolved. Upgraded to 3 stars. Let's list the issues: - Pixelated icons - Minimized cards: text is unreadable (previous version was fine) - No portrait view (getting used to landscape though) - Slow animations for some things, e.g., looking at certain cards. Since you can read them when their small, then y have to wait for a long animation to read the card. - If your you use any iOS features like adjusting brightness, the whole game resets instead of simply returning to the screen you were just on. New review: The old UI was simple and elegant. Not only did it look like the board game but it also had an intuitive layout. It was easy to glance and figure out everything that was going on. I also liked the portrait view. Landscape for this game is terrible. The layout, terrible. This isn't a case of "it's new so I don't like it." I'm usually able to pick out elements of a new interface that are compelling while others complain. Unfortunately, I have to join the complainers. I just don't want to play this game anymore. I'll wait for Champions of Midgard to come out and play that instead. Old review: I play this game literally daily and I love it. However, I recently updated to iOS 10 and I'm getting warnings about this app slowing down my iPad. Can we get a quick recompile for iOS 10 please? (I know it's not quite that easy but an update newer than 2014 would be nice).
Waterdeep is one of the best worker placement games I have ever played. I play both on tabetop and on the ipad, having racked up hundreds of plays in each format. I ws tracking my wins and losses on the app to help me analyze my stratagies and was devistated when the update erased my profile, and thus my records. But I told myself that it was a chance to start with a clean slate and did my best to be enthusiastic. This was a harder task than anticipated. The new compact layout makes it almost impossible to see the board, especially when playing with both expansions. Having to constantly toggle my quests/intrigue pain open and closed to track a third of the board is frustrating, mostly because the app now misreads my clicks on the board, and trying to tell it that I didn't need that card brought to the front, thank you usually leads to me accidently clicking another space or building. I turned off the choice for it to double check confirms, and it still keeps making me confirm, leading to more misclicks. It takes forever to load, which I could live with if it didn't crash me out of the app a half dozen times per game. I really love Lords of waterdeep, and I understand if we cannot get our old profiles back, but could we please have an easier to read board while we wait for the updates that will debug this? Because the crashing, the being told I don't have the right expansions purchased to continue the game I just crashed out of, the difficulty in getting away from having something centered on the screen, how freaking long the computer player now takes to make any move and the seven billion confirms are making it very hard to play. I have advised my mother who also owns the app of this game and both expansions not to update. I am really hoping this will become more easily playable again soon. Thank you.
