I’m relatively new to the game, so keep that in mind when viewing my feedback. I love a lot about this app: the speed of play; can view the cards the other players were holding at end of round; can refuse partner going out if you have a play you want to make. BUT…I agree, an option to ask my “partner” if I can go out - and have it refuse if strategically wise - would be great. Also, I’ve noticed some odd discards that no human would do…like when that card would make a canasta and there are others they could have discarded. (Here’s where my inexperience might show?) I’m gonna keep playing this app…I think a couple more dates, and I might even introduce it to my parents lol. Highly recommend!
This game is completely glitched. It does not apply meld points correctly. IT REWARDS 300 points for a canasta even though initial meld is not met. Example: Three 2s equals 60 points (2s are 20 points each. Add four lower scoring cards; let’s say 4s. Those 4s are only 5 points each for 20 more points; given a total score of 80 points. THAT IS NOT SUPPOSED TO QUALIFY FOR CANASTA POINTS WHEN THERE IS AN INITIAL MELD RULE. INITIAL MELD MUST FIRST BE MET. THEN CANASTA POINTS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE REWARDED. If the required meld is 90 or 120 real canasta doesn’t allow you to lay it down. Canasta points are not supposed to be rewarded until initial meld is met. But this site will allow you to open your initial meld without the required meld points if you’re laying down seven cards that make a canasta. This is in contrast to what the initial meld rules are designed for. If you’re trying to come from behind and your opponent needs 120 to meld; well that is supposed to make it harder for him to meld, but he can meld with just what I describe above. This developer never interacts nicely with people who request them to fix their broken game. They obviously don’t know real canasta. I’ve given several reviews on the issue of meld being incorrectly applied. The developer ignores and hides the bad reviews. The one good review about the ability to choose the game rules is also wrong. There are less options here than on other sites. The o ly reason people like this site at all is because the adds are few and the game is free. It moves quickly if you have a decent player. But they are few and far between.
I’ve been playing against the computer and have noticed a few issues. One is that it sets down two cards with two wilds and it’s allowed. My understanding is that there must always be MORE of the other card in the meld than there are wild cards. Also, when I’ve picked up the pile, on more than one occasion I only received one card when there should have been more cards there. The first few times I played, the computer was setting down way too many canastas too soon - they couldn’t have had that many cards yet. I haven’t noticed that so much the last several times I’ve played. Update: The computer repeatedly picks up the pile and then does not play the top card. It also picks it up when it doesn’t have the required two in its hand to play. For instance, my last two discards are 7s. It picks up the pile and sets down 5 sevens. Then I discard another 7. It picks that one up too, but since its Canasta is still not complete, clearly it did not have 2 more in its hand to justify picking it up. It mimics anything you do that succeeds, like if you go out immediately after getting your first Canasta, it proceeds to do the same on all subsequent hands, making it just a race to one canasta the rest of the time you play continuously. That’s irritating, but the cheating just takes all the fun out of the game. Phooey.
