A year ago I had purchased the ceiling light and the string lights. They were very promising until this year. The string lights became defective when it was outside in the elements, flickering and appearing as offline in the app. I got it replaced with the warranty but the new set had the same problem after a while. The ceiling light just gave up. Even though it was connected to power it still appeared as offline. After multiple resets nothing worked. It might be the app or the light, I don’t know, but don’t get either. I had to reset it on the app by removing it and adding the light back in but it won’t connect. It only wastes 5 minutes of my time per every reset session just for me to be told that connection has failed. And why on earth does it need a special Wi-Fi frequency. It just kept denying everything even after turning my wifi to 2.4. Nothing works. Again… DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM ATOMI. These guys just make products with a really small lifetime just to profit from you guys to buy replacements. I am never trusting this brand. I would rather switch to some unknown and cheap brand because at least they can promise good results, unlike these clowns.
I purchased and tried several other types of landscape lights - solar based and the like - and those turned out to be junk. They stopped working and took on water before even a year was up. I saw these in Costco and they looked sturdy and I loved the WiFi controllability. Setup was a bit rough but ended up ok. Have had them maybe about 6 months and they’ve been working great. Up until now. Sadly, it appears these are only slightly better than the earlier ones I purchased. They too take on water - despite being supposedly sealed - and worse, as they are plugged in they also short out causing the metal casing to become electrified and you get zapped. Poorly designed. Trying to decide my next course of action. May ask Costco if they are returnable. I haven’t tried but I’d be surprised if I can find anyone at Atomi willing to discuss a refund or replacement or anything. I gave this a 2; wanting to give it less, only because the WiFi controllability is a good feature. Too bad they’re just metal junk. I cannot offer a good review or recommend anyone buy these lights.
Found 3 of these lights at TJMaxx/Marshall’s. Bought them so we can turn lights on and off when we are out of town. An additional perk, is being able to turn a light off downstairs from my bedroom upstairs. The one sucky part is that sometimes between the router and the bulb a connection is lost and the bulb becomes unresponsive. To that end our vestibule light and the light in our bedroom stopped working and it wasn’t until a power outage where when the power came back the lights went into AP mode and i was able to get the bulbs back online and working perfect. All in all i got the lights for basically 1/2 off and I’m happy with them. One thing to note, once you’ve got everything working, don’t touch the switches. Also, Alexa noticed the devices when they came online and were able to control the device using both Alexa and the Alexa App.
