Word Crossy - A Crossword game

I have been playing this game for 4 years now. I play it every day, multiple times a day (sometimes for hours if I’m REALLY bored.) I like the fact that it’s not timed and the levels aren’t capped per day. I thought the no ad purchase was well worth it and I’ve never had to buy coins in-game. I’ve only come the end of the levels once in 4 years, but more were loaded by the end of the day. Having said that, it can be a little glitchy. Some levels restart progress when going in/out of the game, only annoying to me if I had a significant amount of extra words already. Rarely, some words aren’t accepted on every level they should appear(developer overlooked?) Once, it replayed the same four levels three times and I had to restart the app. Twice, the weekend tournament never started for me which is very disappointing because I REALLY look forward to those and the added challenge (and coins.) Overall, I am very dedicated to this game and will keep playing it as long as they keep the levels coming (and never make moving ahead impossible unless you pay real money.) 😁

I have played this game a lot. Currently on level 4016. It’s a good time killer. I enjoy it for the most part. However, with every update my approval goes lower and lower. Every time I update, I notice that they bury the benefits of free play deeper and deeper. The piggy bank isn’t available up front any more. The flower count is out of control in the latest update. Scoring is off the charts and irrelevant to anything. Ads start playing randomly, mid game. The game freezes... 30 seconds later an ad plays. You lose your streak. If you get a bonus mid game and you happen to be typing a word, it freezes and you have to hack your way back to your word or you lose your streak. For some reason in the latest update, words that use all of the letters don’t exist. At least I can’t seem to get them to count. Pop ups for the latest sale on bonuses appear throughout the game. The absolute worst part of this game is that from puzzle to puzzle, their dictionary varies. Words will be recognized in one level, but then won’t in the next. Words that are definitely words don’t get counted, and you lose your streak. They have tried to fix this with a ‘submit the word we missed’ option, but good luck finding it. I used to really enjoy the game. It was my favorite, as it was a relaxing way to lass time. Now it’s more frustrating than enjoyable. I hope to find something else to play so I can delete this game. Would have given it 5 stars early on, now it’s down to the 2 star range.

I promise this is worth the read: I absolutely love this game; I could play it for hours on end. Yes, the ads are kind of annoying, but they could be much, much worse. You can skip the adds very quickly, if not immediately. However, there are a few bugs. For example, there’s a bar at the bottom of the screen that is filled when you come up with words that aren’t used in the puzzle. When it’s complete full, you’re supposed to get 25 coins. My bar has been full the entire time i’ve had the game, and I don’t ever get coins. I’ve tried deleting and downloading the game again, but that didn’t work. All it did was make me lose my progress. I was at level 459, and even I had logged into Facebook, I still lost everything. There are some legit words, “ton,” for example, that get rejected in some levels, but accepted in others. Similarly, there are some seemingly illegitimate, “tun,” for example, but nevertheless are words, according to the Oxford Dictionary. Some of the more complicated words that are used can be very tricky to figure out, but that just adds to the fun of the game. In one of the more recent updates, they changed the point system to getting flowers in each level. The number of flowers you get depends on how many correct words, including the credited words that aren’t in the puzzle, you get in a row. This app isn’t perfect, but what app is? Ultimately, the good quality of this game definitely outweigh the minor bugs, which, from what i understand, the app developer is working to fix.
