Virtual Active Roam

Been using this for a few years alongside my Peloton app. I love the scenic walks while on my treadmill. Majority of the videos are very outdated, with a few new ones sprinkled in that are enjoyable. What I loathe are the ones that have wildlife in them, the videographer regularly walks off the path and directly into the wild animals and chases them off. It’s not relaxing, it’s annoying to be jogging on a treadmill then veer off the path into a field and interrupt a bunch of wild animals and then follow them. The Chilean Patagonian Hike is the worst. If this was free it’d be one thing but it’s overpriced for what we’re actually getting. More updates. Less wildlife interruptions.

I have purchased videos from Virtual Active in the past, which I love. I was excited to see that they developed Virtual Active Roam streaming. I use an elliptical and usually watch the hiking videos, but have also enjoyed the running and biking videos. I screen mirror image from my phone to my television through my Apple TV device. There can be a bit of a lag at times in the streaming; but, I have determined that it is not Virtual Active Roam lagging (I see it is running just fine on my phone), but the transmission from my phone to the television. No worries. I can always watch my phone until the television catches up, which is only a few seconds. It is so nice to workout watching videos of beautiful national and state parks, place I may never get to see in person. It is well worth the monthly fee!

This is a great app, with access to so many different trails to hike, run, or bike to. I jog on my rebounder daily and love the scenery I have access to. It is mentally calming to watch while getting physically fit. There are both guided and unguided videos (I do unguided and listen to my own music) with so many different locales. Definitely worth checking out!
