Sudoku a Day - Number Puzzle

Lovely controls and the app UI design is adorable! I really appreciate the zero ads, it’s so rare nowadays. I swear one day we’re gonna have to watch an ad to unlock our phones. If I wasn’t broke because of these gas prices and inflation, I’d definitely get premium to support!

I used to really enjoy this app because of the clean interface and features like highlighting. I actually preferred it over a lot of other sudoku apps (including NYT)! But they launched an update that put previously free features behind a paywall, so… instant delete for me. EDIT: I actually redownloaded to find the specific feature that I was talking about, and I believe it’s one of the Pro-only toggles in the Assistance tab. I will, however, change my star rating because this is a well-made app despite the paywall changes and I don’t feel very good leaving a bad review for anything.

Overall, this is a great Sudoku app — especially for being free and ad-free. The interface is clean, the puzzles are challenging but fair, and it runs smoothly. I really appreciate that you can enjoy the game without constant ads. However, the payment setup is disappointing. You have to either subscribe or make a one-time purchase just to restart a puzzle you failed, which doesn’t feel right. Paying for hints or special features makes sense, but paying just to try again takes away from the fun. If they adjusted it so you don’t have to pay to restart a failed puzzle, this would easily be a 5-star app.
