It has a lot of potential. The free version is not very functional, but it offers a helpful list of questions to ask before making a purchase. Once you’ve answered the questions, the app gives a recommendation (buy or don’t buy) based on your responses. For me, the questionnaire keeps recommending that I make the purchase, even if I’ve given some great reasons not to buy the item. I turn to this app to stop myself from making these purchases, but it encourages me to make them anyway. I wish the questionnaire had higher standards, and I wish I could modify the question weights. And I wish the questions were clearer and deeper - what exactly is the cost per use, how many times will I use the item within the next year, how many hours will I have to work to pay for it, etc. I’m sure if they added these features, they would be behind a paywall though. More than anything, the free version should be functional. It’s just a worksheet right now. Most of the app is behind a paywall and it has constant popup windows trying to get me to buy the premium version, which is super unhelpful to someone on a spending freeze.
I am excited that an app like this exists. I just downloaded it and have not been able to use it in real life yet, but I love the idea behind the app. I do feel like a key item is missing though... It would be nice to have a “want” list that counts down how long you’ve been thinking about the purchase. It would be satisfying to see the days tick by and possibly a notes section regarding the item you want to purchase. It would tie in well to the question “have you wanted it for at least two weeks?”.
I’ve been dreaming of a cute and functional no-spend app that encourages you to think more intentionally about purchases and this is it. The interface is absurdly cute and makes me want to open and use it more than with most tracking apps I’ve tried for various reasons. I hope to see it grow and add features over time but expect I’ll use this a lot to gamify not spending!
