Honestly, if I could give this 6 stars I would. Out of all the tamagotchi's, the Digimon one was always my favorite because it added a purpose. Not only could you raise your pet like any other tamagotchi, but it also allowed you to put your training and hard work to the test in a battle against your friends. This app does a great job at recreating that. Every detail is pretty much exactly as I remember it, except better. Retromon does a great job keeping that nostalgic feel, while adding nice little details like the different kinds of foods when you feed your pet, or the many different attack visuals specific to each monster. Retromon also did an amazing job in creating a fun, and competitive, well balanced battle system that works great. I have not come across any problems so far with the Online Battle system. The ranked and unranked battle system provides a little fun for everyone, and the new lobby and arena concept makes it that much more fun and visually appealing. The only "downside" is that there are ads, but not only do they rarely pop up, they are also relatively short ads and you can usually exit out of them very quickly, so I wouldn't even really call it much of a downside... These ads are nowhere near as annoying as many other games I've played, so I really don't mind them. If you really don't want any ads at all tho, there is an option in the shop to pay for the ad free version. All in all, The app is superb and the closest thing to a real digimon tamagotchi. If you're looking for a solid app to give you that nostalgic feel, and that works perfectly, Retromon is by far the best choice in my honest opinion.
I downloaded the game last night and started playing this afternoon. My digimon evolved once after the 8hours over night and I’ve been training it however every time I try and do a ranked or unranked battle it will not work and gets stuck on the loading screen. I had a friend with the same game try a battle and it worked for him so I’m not sure why it won’t work for me. I thought it could be because I had bad signal in the area I was in so I waited until I reached an area with better signal and still had no luck. I have metro pcs as my provider if that makes a difference and my friend has ATAT. The game would be great if I was able to battle. Unfortunately without being able to battle the game gets a bit boring plus I can’t get my digimon to evolve past a certain point. I’ve already messaged the RetroMon game page on Facebook in hope I can get this problem resolved soon so I will be able to battle. Curious if others are having this problem as well.
I’ve been playing this for about 10 days now and I’ve had fun with it so far, and I’ve even gotten my monster to the third stage; the only problem I have is the sporadic ability to battle. Every once in a while I’ll be able to battle people until all of a sudden no one will show up the rest of the day. If this issue gets fixed this would be an immediate 5 star but with the randomness of having the chance to battle (which you need to evolve later) I can’t give it a perfect number. I hope to see this fixed or at least explained and whether or not it’s even fixable
