NPS Shenandoah

I’ve only spent a few minutes looking at the app since downloading it but see right away that all trails are not shown. From the south entrance I see that the large parking area at Bear Den and Calf Mountains is not shown. One good thing about the app is that it does make it easy to find the PDF trail maps on the nps website to download and either print or save. These are the same ones you would pick up from the entrance stations. The ‘Filters’ option appears to have a bug and only allows a single filter at a time (so you can’t filter on both ‘trailheads’ and ‘camping’ at the same time) When browsing the map there doesn’t seem to be a legend to clearly identify fire roads, trails, horse trails (and parking), the AT. The app does display alerts and closures (nonpotable water and high water conditions are shown today) but doesn’t include the phone number for the park. I’ve learned from experience that the park doesn’t include major closures on the website and when you get there the rangers say, “well, did you call the park?” Including the phone number would be nice.

It is a wonderful app I love it

Going around the app, looks great and you can find basic information that can be helpful by the time that you visit the park, love the fact that I can find the falls in one place as many others places, I know some of us we are familiar with the park but for me there’s many places to discover... I can’t say that I know every inch of the park so this app will be helpful for sure.
