NextPass Easy Toll Payments

This is a really-well built app that works really well. They charge about 15% for the service, but I think it’s worth it, because I don’t have to deal with the terrible state-run toll payment systems, which are truly terrible in most states. I’ve lived in 12 states in the last 10 years, so I have some familiarity, and using a license plate number (instead of a silly tag) is a much better way to track and pay tolls.

Do not use this app for a rental car if there is any chance you will be turning in the car early. There is no option to stop the tolls from being charged to your rental vehicle is you don’t edit the return time 24 hours in advance. So…..if you finish your day early and take an earlier flight, the next person to use your rental car will have their tolls charged to your account up until the termination time you entered on the app when you first rented the vehicle. You cannot edit the return time or delete the vehicle from your account. When I inquired about this, they said I should have read the fine print. Total scammy rip off!!!

Nextpass just made my life way easier! I can now remove my transponder and forget about my account balance, tag replacements or other oldfashion payment methods such as “pay by mail”. The app is very user-friendly, you just add your credit card details and it detects when you drive through a toll road to charge the exact toll rate. All my toll trips were accurately display on the “recent activity tab” and they are easy to track. I recommend this app to everyone interested in a hassle-free tolling experience.
