This app is FANTASTIC! I love how as soon as anything is popping off (…happening) not only in/around MY immediate area but in SURROUNDING areas as well I am in the loop almost instantaneously, be it alerts in regard to something weather related (the recent electrical outages as a direct result of the severe storms last weeks end),police/fire activity, lost pets, you name it. Another plus is the fact that I’ve yet to see a single post that’s displayed any sort of disrespectful language towards another person who’s posted a comment/message. I’m going to be honest. When first I started using this app I was more than a little bit skeptical, as I’ve used similar apps and I found that it lacked any real benefit/benefits, such as information in real time, accuracy by users supplying said information, and just downright nastiness on the part of some individuals towards others. But I have to admit that I’m of a totally different mindset now about these “community apps” after joining the “Neighbors” community. I guess the best way to describe it is that it’s just where “grownups” meet to get down to what’s REALLY going on in the/their community at any given time, be it day or night, whether it’s about a lost dog/cat, information as to why there’s an ambulance parked around the corner, staying on the lookout for package thieves, you just name it. It may seem/sound like a little thing to many, but means the WORLD to a few. Like me. And my “Neighbors”. Thank you for allowing me to voice (🤭) my opinion. I truly appreciate being given this opportunity. 🌹
Unless you want to post or see posts about “IS THAT GUNSHOTS” when it’s so obviously fireworks or a missing pet or “all the lights are out on my street is there a power outage” don’t get this app because whenever you try to post about something legit they’re gonna decline it, was at a gas station when I had to call police bc a older guy was being creepy towards teenage girls so I wanted to know if any of the houses got anything on their camera so I ask on here and DECLINED and reason? “you’re assuming someone of crime” “might just be an unknown solicitor taking photos” “cars driving slowly ain’t crime” well let’s see I never said he did a crime, he far from was a solicitor taking pictures, and he wasn’t driving slowly he parked next to this girl and then got out of his car approaching her and her minor friends, but declined. Last summer random man was running around saying CALL 911 So I did but also was wondering wth that was about so I post on the neighbors ring app anyone else heard him? DECLINED and reason “possibly feral pigs” yea cause I live in a CITY there’s sooo many feral pigs IN THE MIDDLE OF A BIG CITY literally anything real you try to post will be declined and they don’t care about what neighbors more than likely would like to know?? Get nextdoor where you can post whatever you want without your post having to go thru review first so they can decline it unless it’s a missing pet (they’ll even decline that sometimes) or “power outage” or “GUNSHOTS?!!!” When it’s so obviously fireworks 🤡
This app is great. It’s a social-type-app with a newsfeed that shows videos/posts by people who live near you of suspicious and/or criminal activity caught on their Ring products. Only problem (for some) is...because it’s a “neighborhood” kinda thing, people post & discuss other neighborhood “issues” or non-criminal things caught by their camera or (Did anyone hear that loud noise? There’s a bobcat in my backyard, etc).” Personally, this is what I LIKE about this app. You can’t really use FB to post about missing mail, knocked over trashcans or cable outages because most of your FB friends don’t live in your neighborhood and can only give you the “sorry to hear that” response. This app connects people, anonymously, to other people who live right on their street...which is both cool as well as a fabulous way to share information about safety concerns, suspicious activity and crime (and it’s also pretty darn handy when you just heard an explosion outside while boarded up for a hurricane & want to find out if anyone knows what the heck it was)! All that said...and I’m not sure if I just happen to live in a particularly angry neighborhood or what...but the people on this app are like crazy lunatics if someone posts something that is not an actual crime. I mean they are RELENTLESS like nothing I’ve ever seen in the way that they scold, berate and challenge everything from the timing of the videos, to why a person chose to post that particular segment of a video, etc...they are the angriest, rudest trolls I’ve ever experienced on any similar platform ever. I couldn’t believe all of the bullying and almost deleted the app but decided that I’d rather keep this very cool neighborhood-connecting tool and will just ignore all the weirdos who think they’re the internet police.
