Nanoleaf

This, without a doubt, the most rage inducing app on my devices. Want to shave 4-5 years off your life? Try to update your Nanoleaf lights. The update process is only for the most masochistic among us. Think all you have to do is hit the update button? No…you’ll need to do it over and over because this WILL NEVER work on the first try. I’ve got several Nanoleaf devices from strips to bulbs, and they all have the same issues updating. Updates will outright fail immediately forcing you to hit retry over and over. An update might get all the way to 80-90% after 7-8min and then fail, forcing you to restart from square one. Then, the worst, is that you’ll think the update completed just fine. You’ll think this because it shows completed and shows the current firmware version. If feels like you threw the ring in the lava and it’s job done, now back to the shire…what a trek. Now open the app again and you’ve got a significant chance of the light being back to the version it was previously which means you get to try and update it again, and again, and again… I want to point out this isn’t a one off, isn’t tied to one version of the app, this has been my experience for several years now. Nanoleaf seems to be capable of making quality bulbs, but they seem to be completely incapable of making a functional update process for those bulbs.

I saw these on an ad and thought it was just another too good to be true device that would help transform any setting in your house to a modern and elegant feel, and after taking the leap to purchase two triangle starting kits and set them up, believe every word when I say these are REMARKABLE!!!! I was a little intimidated by the setup as I wanted to make sure I placed them in a straight line but once you get the first 2 center panels aligned just right, the rest building outward just fall into place. The moment I turned on the power, I was completely blown away by the visibility and variety of lighting it gave off!!! I played with it during sunlight and before I knew it, it had transitioned into night outside and I was able to adjust the panels to accommodate the different lighting ambiance. I was really happy to see these were an any-time-of-day lighting kit that can set the tone of any atmosphere. There are endless possibilities with these panels from pre built in settings to discovering color patterns found through the app that you can test and download to make up your own desirable library! The technology behind Nanoleaf is like no other (it even has touch capability!) and I’m so excited to continue playing with my lighting setup and am absolutely going to buy more products to add to my setup. Thanks for making such a GREAT product Nanoleaf and taking zero shortcuts to creat products how they should be, impressive!!!

I was nervous after reading all the negative reviews concerning the app and its functionality...and upon downloading was hit with the “Error:Sync in progress” message. Repeatedly. Spent the first night thinking my new smart lights were pretty dumb. So I Googled what to do, and it turns out I deleted the Home App from my iPhone which is essential here. So I downloaded Home, and made sure that Keychain was enabled. After resetting Home, and doing a hard reset on the panels, my phone was able to discover them finally. Once that happened it took me approximately 5 minutes to set everything up including linking to Alexa. Easy stuff. The app is key to these lights especially if you skipped on the remote like I did, since I plan to rely on voice to control. And the app once connected is really fantastic. Changed my entire outlook on these panels and now I’m obsessed, especially with the rhythm addition. Tons of customization...limited only by your imagination to be truthful. Other than the clunky and very specific setup, the app is pure gold. It’s because of the setup that I docked a star, but other than that it’s perfect. I see some people questioning the positive reviews as fake...please let me assure you, I in no way work for this company nor do I have any reason to write a fake review. I’m a disabled tech nerd that has had these sitting in a closet for four months, and am genuinely excited by the product now that I have set it up. 100% recommended.
