Can’t even start using it

I’ve been unsuccessfully trying to login for half an hour. The welcome page asks me to verify my email (instead of sign in?) and when I enter my email it simply waits forever and then errors. The one time I’ve gotten it to continue after trying repeatedly, it didn’t even use my email before asking me to verify my device and sent a text message to my number, at which point it took me to a normal login screen. So what was the point of verifying things? After that, when I tried to log in, it constantly gave me a timed out error, and when I clicked “Trouble logging in?” it sent me back to the original “verify email” screen. After restarting the app I’m now sent to the login screen, but now every time I try to login I get some “Error Connecting” and I’m told to check my internet connection, and I’ve tried both using data and using wifi. What’s worse, when I tried again and accidentally typed my password incorrectly, it correctly told me that my password is incorrect. So clearly there’s some amount of connection here. Possibly the worst app I’ve ever used.

Can’t pay rent via IPhone anymore

This app provides less functionality on iPhone than previous web based portal. It’s design makes it impossible for me to navigate to the final button to submit a rental payment on iPhone, which is ridiculous. I have to use my desktop computer to pay — which kind of defeats the purpose of having a mobile app. Hey, here’s an idea Equity Residential - since you increase my rent automatically every year, why not use some of that cash to build an app I can use on my iPhone? On the upside - I have successfully submitted service requests via iPhone. P.S. The community features are pointless. Nobody uses them, at least where I live.

Good. But needs 1 thing.

Since the developer took the time to respond, it’s only fair I take the time to re-evaluate. Here’s the specific problem I have with the authentication. When you first download the app and type in your email. Even IF you have already logged into the app before. It jumps to a signup page asking to verify your phone number and then enter a new password. Also you can’t exit the process once it’s started so you have to kill the app to go back. Easy solution - Don’t try to execute a single sign on from the log in screen. Clearly it’s not picking up all current usernames in the DB. Allow the user to select “Log In” or “Sign up” AFTER putting in their user name or password. Feel free to add a “keep me signed in” function you can click that would then auto prompt to use TouchID/FaceID without needing past users to enter their credentials. In regard to sharing data, I was reminded by my wife that she pays rent from her account and I typically make the service requests. I did notice that all of the service request I’ve made are on the app. So clearly data is being shared, making my previous comment incorrect. One could argue for security that requiring the user to re-input their payment info is necessary. But someone else can verify if it’s indeed shared. (My wife has no interest in helping me troubleshoot this app lol) I hope this help! I myself am in software development so I understand the importance of clear feedback to improve UX. Best of luck! :) (Original Review) Please learn how to handle authentication. From the sign up to just trying to re-login, there have been nothing but errors. Also, please be a modern app and share data with the website. I don’t feel like setting up all of my payment info twice to pay my rent from my phone...
