I’ve always toyed with the idea of a Keto diet but I never knew where to begin. There are so many books about it with general guidance. However, I wanted something more tangible with actual macro target numbers to hit every day. I gave this app a chance and I have found success with it. It has and had everything I needed to get started. It calculates your daily macros and you add your updated weight so your macros will automatically adjust. It has so many recipes that you can adjust the servings and add them directly to your daily intake. I also love that it continues to show you if you are reaching your max…..seeing it all stay “green” is a goal and when carbs go “yellow” I know to be mindful not to go over. What I do love most about the app is the customer support. I have had detailed questions (even on a weekend) where I texted support through the chat link. To my surprise, it was answered within a couple hours. I know it was not an AI answer either because there is no way AI could have made heads or tales out of my question to give me such a detailed and personalized answer. To say this app has been a game changer for me is an understatement. I purchased other keto apps at the same time I purchased this one. It is so user friendly and yet, so detailed….I could not have made the progress I have made without it. Thank you to whomever created it. With your customer service alone….it shows they truly care about everyone’s journey and want it to be successful.
I got on my Drs scale ( non digital) subtracted a couple of lbs ( maybe more) for clothing, and guessed I was 214. I was horrified. I’m only 5’3. I was taking Metformin for pre diabetic issues. I’ve tried so many diets, even weight loss surgery ( the horrible lap band) . Yo-yod weigh losses snd gains. My Dr finally suggested Keto. That was sometime in the last week of May. I’m sorry I didn’t actually record the date or take a picture of myself on the date I began Keto. Today I’m down 50 lbs. and off the Metformin medication. It did take me almost 2 weeks to get that last LB off to get to that 50 lb goal. I feel amazing. I struggled w knee and back pain everyday. Tying my shoes was a chore. My knees are fine now. Back is better. My energy level is amazing and my hunger cravings are pretty much non existent. I have to remind myself to eat. I averaged about 2.5 lbs loss a week until these last few weeks. Time for a little adjustment to get rid of the last 10-15 lbs. I cook for 2 but eliminate the potatoes ( or whatever carb) from my plate. I use spiral cute zucchini instead of spaghetti when I make sauce, most times an Alfredo and don’t miss the pasta at all. My only issue today is I’m experiencing hair loss now. I take Biotin daily and have always had thick hair. I’ve read this is temporary and hopefully it will stop soon. It’s a bit alarming but will see. I’ve made an appointment with my dermatologist just to see if there is any other reason for it at this point. Or maybe it’s time to ease back out of Keto. Truly happy with this way of eating and how I feel at this point though so hopefully I can continue my Keto lifestyle.
I am 62 years old. I take 500 mg Metformin twice a day. I have Type 2 Diabetes and my HgbA1C had risen to 7.9. I knew I had to do something to change the course of this disease. I started by changing my diet, decreasing my carbohydrates. I did a bit of research and started the keto diet, was only aiming for less than 40 carbs/day. I lost some weight and my glucose levels started to improve. After 3 months my HgbA1C had dropped to 7.1. In the meantime my daughter had decided to go on the keto diet. Her goal was mainly for weight loss. During a phone conversation with her, we discussed the diet and she ended up asking, “Mom, Have you done Any research?” She introduced me to this keto app and I realized I needed to do more. Carbs allowed for me is 15 per day. Restrictive ,yes, but after 4 weeks I have lost 5 more pounds and my glucose levels have dropped significantly from 150s to 180s first thing in the morning(those were usually my highest levels) to 120s to 130s) and over the past 2 days am glucose was 114 and today 100. I am seeing results. I feel well and look better. My knee joint pain has disappeared. A1C is due the first of June. I am expecting further improvement. This app keeps me on track and the insights are instructive and useful. It also helps that my daughter is eating the same way. We share recipes and she is a great encourager. Thanks for the app! It is a big part of the reason I am succeeding! Who knows, maybe I will be able to stop taking Metformin.
