It’s always been terrible but at least in the past I was able to do few things such as choosing my seat, since most my travel 14 hours flights and I need the extra leg room, and unfortunately since I been loyal customer for Etihad with gold status since 2011, yet never ever got any complimentary upgrade therefore it’s very important for me to choose my seat, with the new update I can’t do that either. As per the email sent to most frequent flyers there is new updates that is more benefits and friendly, not true at all same benefits nothing new, and the app is worst than before. You would think someone in Etihad will read all these comments and do something about it? Guess again, no one care in Etihad.
First up, the app is terrible. There have been numerous instances/excuses/updates in the past and the end user experience is poor. Just one example - I can’t even see the details of a previous booking, as it assumed I’m going to manage the booking. Try buying a ticket with miles on the app - Etihad seems to do everything it can to DISCOURAGE easy redemption of miles, and the website is no better. And the worst is having to call the call center for which YOU get charged because Etihad hasn’t made a proper app. And to top it all, it doesn’t seem that they care about feedback, either here, or in general. Not mention the Profiling at the airport by their staff - and if Etihad really takes things seriously, someone will contact me.
Etihad canceled flights everyday saying they had technical problems, every day, every international flight. 4 different family members expressed same concern, being stranded in different cities or at airport from hours to 2-4 days sometimes. Also during these times, as I personally experienced that Etihad did not even provide water or a snack to stranded travelers whose flights they canceled without notice at last minute. The very few that got hotel booked due to days of delay we’re left without any information on when they will be reached, when will next flight be available. When they did reschedule, randomly people were assigned to fly to different destinations far off and waste 1-2 days going in loop to get to original destination. People who were needing medication suffered. People traveling due to emergency were not given any ear, nor prioritized, and left at customer service reply which didn’t help. Save money, time and agony. DON’T travel with Etihad.
