Reviews: What People Think About Hydra 1 (Legacy version)
cool guy dont tell no lie
Rating: 5/5
Okay so I never write reviews unless it’s for some bogus unlock in an app, but I’m writing this one because this is seriously the best camera app I’ve ever had, period. It has an extremely simple layout, and every shooting Option can produce gorgeous photos, none of them feel like just a thrown together “filler” mode, and if you follow the tips it’ll get even better from there.
P.S. anyone who hasn’t already should see what happens when you take multiple photos of the same area/subject. The app doesn’t just mesh the frames it captures during one shoot. ;) (insanely powerful and smart application guys, no complaints.)

I'm sorry to disappoint you but this isn't the camera app you are looking for if you have a new phone. But even after saying that, I have an iPad Pro 2nd Gen and the camera zoom & resolution adds no value there either. I have done many tests and while it seems that the image seems softer-edged tricking you into clarity, a quick zoom-crop will reveal there is no new detail added.
In this day and age, what you are looking for is a neural network that will improve the image after the snap; but I'm telling you that if you practice your normal camera app editing you'll find you have all the quality you need (don't forget to maximise resolution in the settings)
Applied for a refund (was no way to test the app before paying for it) but 3 stars since it is still a camera app and people with older phones seem to find benefit.

The principle of combining multiple exposures to get a more detailed single photo is well understood but no matter how much I try on my iPhone XS images come out too blurry to claim they are perceivably better than native camera app. The whole promise of an app was that it would use the natural “shake” of a users hand to accumulate more data where in reality the algorithm is no where good enough especially compared to some other similar systems like the one used by google in their camera app. All on all while in theory it is possible to hit a perfect storm of circumstances where the images are indeed worth the effort most of the time the native camera app with tiny bit of post processing can bring better results. Would love to return this app and get my money back if that were possible.
