ARTSEE - Artwork Wall Previews

The “scaling” feature is a joke. You take a picture of a wall then it tells you to attach a letter-size piece of paper to the wall and overlay the on screen box to the piece of paper. Hmmm…. You should probably tell people to put the piece of paper on the wall BEFORE you tell them to take the picture. Doesn’t really matter anyway because the scaling DOES NOT WORK. I added pictures of a couple pieces and edited the dimensions. (Note: It locks the aspect ratio so you can only adjust one dimension - no fractions or decimals - and the other dimension “scales” automatically.). I place the piece of art on the wall and it winds up looking like a postage stamp. Second major flaw: You can only work with single pieces, i.e. you can’t add multiple pieces to the a single wall view.

I’ve tried multiple art apps that allow for utilization of art pieces as well as the use of home walls and this app is truly a beauty. There is one huge catch, when trying to save an image to your camera roll it crashes the app. Maybe a fix with a next update would be nice.

This app has a really cool premise. For art collectors and aficionados alike, you can upload images of bare walls in your house and see how different artwork will look on them. It also has a pretty big directory of artists in order to discover new pieces, and not only gives you the gallery information of where it can be found, but allows you to contact them through the app. As of right now, you can't do direct purchases, but it seems like this app is still in development and I imagine there will be many new features soon. In the meantime, it's still a fun way to find new artwork and test out how it'll look hanging in your living room.
