Ion water app showed a leak of 3 gallons an hour to the property 400 miles away from where I live I was very grateful for this and my contractor found a leak under the kitchen sink fixed it and the app showed the leak stopped one day later the app shows a notification of a new leak at 33 gallons an hour I thought my house was going to be flooded and all the work my contractor had done would be ruined he was able to get to the property 24 hours later and the place was dry there was no visible leak at 33 gallons an hour that’s a bathtub full of water an hour there would be visible signs of water leakage with me living so far away I’m relying on this app to be relevant My contractor shut the water off to the property altogether and the app still 12 hours later has not updated that the leak has stopped it’s still showing 33 gallons an hour I’m not sure what to do about this is it a faulty meter is it reading wrong I’m just not sure what’s going on that’s a lot of water to be leaking an hour there would be visible sign somewhere even if it were underground there would be water visible can someone please reach out and explain this to me thank you

This is a powerful tool to provide specific data on your household water use. Our homeowners association and its landscape contractor has exclusive access to a controller that waters a portion of our front yard landscape and the lawn strip between the sidewalk and the street. We were aware that our water use and bill was mysteriously horrifically high. And it changed hardly at all when we were away from home for a week, ie, the problem was not our domestic — inside the house — water use which is very low. Our backyard is a Mediterranean landscape with no lawn and plants that have relatively lower water needs. With the detailed data provided in this ap of both the time and quantity of water use — down to the hour and fraction of a gallon of use, we were able to program the drip systems over which we have control to different days than the horrifically high water use and separate them out, thereby identifying the source of the problem — which is not us…. This has given us the data we need to address the issue with our HOA and it’s landscape contractor. We encourage all homeowners to use this ap to identify and address high water use issues during this time of drought.

I have two water wells on my property and when I found out that my meter would be changed to a smart meter and that I would be able to analyze my water consumption down to the very date and time of day I had to switch over to just see the amount of water consumption that was taking place at my residence. Yes my water bill went up and my electric went down do to the pumps being shut down, but what I discovered was that I had several leaks around my home. I had two toilets leaking by, a water valve stuck open on my ice maker just sending the water down the drain. I will go back to my wells soon but I will change over once a quarter to check my system status for any possible leakage. Now I know why my electric went up and my replacement of water pumps 2 per year. ROI - well pumps will cycle less extending the life span water well pumps are not cheap so this app helped with that. Cost avoidance! I’m calling badger meters direct to purchase one for my wells as I now think about it. * check all bathroom water usage change out the flappers. * check to make sure your refrigerator water valves are working properly. * insure you have the correct irrigation spray heads installed to insure the highest efficiency when watering your lawn.
