The Journal News app has been a skeleton of its former self for months, but we were told that it was intentional while they improved it, and they asked our patience and said that in the interim the Dayton Daily app would remain fully functional. Well today the update for both arrived and after I applied it to JN it still doesn't allow me to bookmark articles from the paper as it used to, and it also deleted all my previous article bookmarks. Gone! What's more, it was extremely difficult trying to login and it didn't keep me logged in even after I did finally get in. (Did not have any problems on the DDN app login which is still previous version!) The new digital newspaper format (now called eEdition) is a horrible version that judders and changes, and it's presented inside multiple frames, including bright blinking ads and huge menu bars that take up so much space the window for viewing the actual content on my iPhone is now only two and half inches! I just want the app to eDeliver the daily paper and allow me to read it with ease and bookmark articles for rereading later. I can barely read the content with the new update, and the ads, multiple logins, failed bookmarks, etc are a disservice to the journalists and others who provide the content. I want to support this newspaper, but what good is my subscription if I cannot access the content?
The ads at the bottom of the screen on the digital version are maddening. They take too long to load. I like to be able to to scan through the pages and now I have to wait until the ads load in each page before I can do anything with the page. I don’t know how much longer I will put up with those before I cancel my subscription. It’s maddening.
