It's a very bare bones system. Stripped down and cloud-hosted for no other reason (for most organizations) than to charge an exorbitant amount for a subscription (for a DOOR LOCK). The hardware is low quality. The nfc is very finicky so if you plan on that being your main access method, maybe look into another system. I had a horrible experience with Kisi. We used Kisi for 3 years. It was installed and paid for through a contractor. That contractor missed a payment to Kisi (we paid the contractor in full and on time) which caused our subscription to be canceled. I reached out to Kisi directly to resolve the issue and they informed me that the plan I was on no longer exists and if I want to get my subscription active again, I'd need to be in one of the new tiers which START at 4 times more than we have been paying for years (for the same functionality, mind you). When explaining the situation to Kisi, how we paid for the year on time and any missed payments on Kisi's end we're between their own contractor and Kisi, not us the customer. They did not look out for their customer at all. I got the cold shoulder from Kisi. Obviously I'm not going to get price-gouged by some low level tech company, so we ripped the Kisi system out and replaced it with a much more feature-rich access control system that is 100% subscription free. Our new reader is beautiful and has facial recognition, per-user pin options, NFC, and mobile NFC. It has a screen and camera so we were also able to replace our smart doorbell with our beautiful new Ubiqiuti system. We're now able to display our logo on our reader as well.
Iโve been using this a few years in an office building. It works most of the time and using the pads is slow. There are a few pads that donโt respond to the first tap (or the second, or thirdโฆ). Honestly I have favorited the doors I use most and unlock them via the app. Usually the touch pad brings up Apple Pay but wonโt unlock the door. Tap again. And Again. And open the freakin app. The main office pad blinks red for error and then immediately green on the lock. It works less reliably on my new iPhone 15 pro than it did on the iPhone 8. Iโve tried enabling location on always, Bluetooth, cell data, background updates. Nothing has helped. And itโs faster to use the app than it is to tap the pads. I just wish the Favorite screen was the default. Each time I open the app Iโm at home base and have to click My Office and then open my building (and thereโs only 1 choice ). Just keep the app on Favorites. It would be even neater if I could sort them in the order that I travel through the building. There are several pairs for double doors.
...but once you realize that you donโt have to hold your phone to the reader (use Bluetooth instead) you can seamlessly go in. There wasnโt a very good direction from the hostess but we got it quickly. Another nit, was of all the driving gates to get into and all the gates to pool area, you have no ideas what name is what gate. Slight nit, but I do like the name that lights up when youโre close to the gate but doesnโt happen all the time. Probably operator error in some cases. Great app.
