Helped A Ton

I just started my first clinical rotation in nursing school about 2 months ago. I was terrified about talking to patients, other nurses, and drs. I was afraid that I was going to sound incompetent, so I just kind of hid in the shadows hoping my clinical instructor wouldn’t notice. Well, thankfully she did. She recommended this app to help me practice professional communication and my assessment skills. I used the app pretty much every day for about a month. I started off with the free account, and went through all available scenarios. So I upgraded to Pro after about 2 weeks. My clinical instructor has already said that she can tell a big difference in how I am organizing my thoughts and that I sound much more confident. I love the practice questions and therapeutic communication cases as well. Overall, I think it great and I can see myself using this app even beyond graduation. As for feedback, can you please add the ability to see multiple patients at once? I don’t want to get too ahead of myself, but I know that in my later terms and once I start working, I will have to work with multiple patients at once.

Interesting

I had the chance to see a demonstration at my hospital. I downloaded it and tried all of the free intro and intermediate med surg cases. I really enjoy the notification system. We got a new AI alert system in our charts and it’s not always right. I feel like this feature will help nurses learn to think for themselves and not over rely on AI. My initial scores were low, but once I realized that I am graded on more than my assessment, down to how I call the Dr, I got much higher scores. I can see this really helping the whole nursing process from initial shift handoff, to programming IV pumps, and even your progress note. Great job overall. I am going to get the pro account to check out the other cases.

Useful At Home

I have been a nurse for a few years now. I tried this app after a friend told me about it. I did one of the practice simulations and got 70%. I was shocked that it graded me on how I introduced myself to the patient down to if I asked if they had any allergies. I thought it was really cool that the family members and charge nurse can call you in the middle of the scenario. I called the Dr for orders and the app called me out on a less than ideal SBAR Ha Ha, I didn’t think it would be so thorough! I tried the therapeutic communication scenario for grief and I actually got some very good feedback I can use in practice. I saw that you can actually make your own wristbands and mediation barcodes for practice. Seems cool, but I haven’t tried it yet. Overall, I really like it so far. I’m going to keep using the free scenarios and I’ll report back if I feel like the Pro account is worth it. Definitely recommend!
