It’s an OK app. It’s like another Instagram and TikTok. I can also see my stuff on Bluesky from that app. While the recent software update resolved the issue where videos just can’t upload or fail to upload, this update is now creating a new host of problems. These problems need immediate action. Let’s start with the plus button. It used to work like TikTok, where I click the plus button and then it takes me straight to the camera just like on TikTok, where I can do a video straight from the app. Now, when I click the plus button, it now tells me and takes me to the page where it says add a photo or video meaning it tells me to go into my photo library of photos that I have already taken manually from the Camera app on my phone and then upload it to the app. There’s no way of getting around it or any of that. It doesn’t take me straight to the camera. If I want to take a video, I have to go into the Camera app on my phone and then upload it from my photo library to the app. It was never like that before. Also, when I go into my profile or click on someone else’s profile, if I scroll with my fingers in the middle of the screen, it won’t scroll up or down. So I have to move my fingers over to the right. And that’s when I get in the area between the videos and the profile name and that is the bio. Also, the font sizes are matching with the accessibility settings on my phone, which is making things too big and therefore I can’t see certain features or capabilities. I need the option to toggle that off. The same goes true with the Bluesky app as well, And also when I click add feedback, it doesn’t open. These are the things that needs to be addressed before this app is ready for prime time. In fact, the app may need to be shut down temporarily in an effort to fix these bugs in a software update that also prevents new bugs from happening in the future. It might also require the developer to shut down the app and then rebuild it from scratch.

It’s the same as all other social media. They force religious propaganda down your throat no matter how many times you mark it as not interested, the process to switch from your following feed to a discovery feed (and back) is about as intuitive as trigonometry, and to be honest the quality of content found on the app is mediocre in both production and substance. The UI is absolutely terrible. If feels like the devs wanted to try to maintain simplicity but in order to do so had to try to combine functions that just don’t work. For example: to “explore” you swipe right to see new categories until you find something interesting and then swipe down. Now, I have to admit on paper this layout seems promising. When put in to practice is when it falls apart. If you’ve been exploring topics for a few mins and want to go back to your following feed, you now have to swipe left past all the topics you JUST PASSED to get back to the people that your following or completely close and then reopen the app…….devs……come on……why is that not JUST A NORMAL BUTTON?????? Now, I get it, this app is brand new and I’m sure the devs aren’t done updating things. Perhaps in six months with some actual traffic this app could be something special, but right now it fails to hit that mark.

I love that because it’s connected to Bluesky, it automatically follows the creators I follow there! It was such a great surprise to see one of my favorite content creators show up on my feed and that I was already following them! I noticed the double-tap “like” feature inconsistently lags. I’m also going to parrot feedback I saw requesting dates and timestamps on the video. It’s so neat to see it respond to my interactions in real time! Can’t wait to see as it continues to grow! ETA: bummed to see there’s no “repost” feature. I’m guessing that’s by design since there’s such an emphasis on creators owning their content? Also noticing that trying to watch videos directly from the “Liked” tab on my profile is not working. Clicking on videos in that tab produces a “Cannot Load Video” error message.
