Ambient Home

The app usually works fine for me, but is lacking. For example, my complex uses ButterflyMx for our main entrance door, which allows for Siri Shortcuts, unlocking with Apple Watch, etc. unfortunately, some exterior and interior doors don’t use ButterflyMX, so I’m forced to use Ambient which has these major issues 1. I can’t set the 5 doors/locks I want quick access to on the home/landing page. Instead, I have to scroll through EVERY common area lock in my building and select the one I want. You should at least sort by the last 5 locks I used. ButterflyMX lets me sort the locks. 2. You can set thermostat temps with the app, but that’s it. You can’t integrate with Siri or Alexa. You can’t set a schedule. I don’t have another solution to compare this with, but that seems incredibly lacking. 3. The only shortcut I can create is to lock my apartment door. I can’t have a home screen shortcut to lock and UNlock other doors, which makes #1 more irritating. ButterflyMX lets me do this.

We had Dwelo before and it worked like a charm then leasing office switched us all out to Ambient. Horrible decision. From the App I can work the lights and open and close the front door. I don’t need an app to do that frankly. What this App doesn’t do is connect to the thermostat at all. This has been reported several times to the leasing office/ maintenance and they tell me they can find nothing wrong with the new thermostat. I removed the App from my phone, reinstalled it etc etc and the lights and front door still work from the App but not the thermostat. Frankly, when we had Dwelo adjusting the thermostat was a great and beneficial feature via the Dwelo App. The fact that Amibient is useless for adjusting thermostat temperature results in a one star from me. It just doesn’t work for the one thing I want it to do- Adjust thermostat temperature. It is a pain to have to manually adjust temperature settings on the actual thermostat since it does not work from the Ambient App. It also unnecessarily increase our utility costs.

An app to control home automation that doesn’t support shortcuts? This app is basically useless. Unreliable to open my door. Thermostat has zero automation or scheduling. Light switch requires you go into the app to turn the switch on. None of this is compatible with HomeKit, Alexa, or Google. So they took a Yale lock and removed functionality. They took a thermostat and removed functionality the point it had less feature than a thermostat in my apartment 15 years ago. And they have lights that are barely smart. And on top of all this, I get to pay a subscription fee from my apartment to use all of this technology that doesn’t typically require a subscription. What a joke. This company is garbage. They really locked down screwing over people to make money. Not to mention I also reached out to their customer support. Took weeks before I received a response every time they replied. -10/10 would NEVER recommend. Edit: Developer responded. They want me to troubleshoot with them. I already tried that for 3 months when I moved in. It would take WEEKS to receive a response from them. I refuse to waste another minute of my time troubleshooting this.
