Despite this game obviously being a vampire survivors rouge-like with some cool designs and bosses; I have no idea why it isn’t marketed as that at all. I even don’t mind the gear loot system. The skins and shop items are slow but really rewarding for free play as well. The one thing I would say is the people making the game clearly have nice ideas although i’m not sure what the animated show you vote on with coins and seems like the basis for this game is at all, and I actually think the game would be better without. I’m sure the team wouldn’t be able to do this though even though i’d love for this game to have a longer life span, for god sakes I hope they get to make more characters and skins they want, and more events! I hope one day they can fully use their inspiration and re-do the menus and UIs and even have a fully pixelated mode. Weirdly enough probably the best DC mobile game in a decade but it’s hidden behind a lot, but it is a real gem and I like it and the team who are working on it a lot. Please play and a leave a good review for a something I never knew I needed- a DC roguelike.
As of writing this I have only seen the premiere. There is a small selection of characters but it chooses to give a personal take on each one. The camera stays on them when they express themselves so you begin to care about them a lot more. The writing is smart. Feels like if Telltale made a JL game, which is just awesome. I always wanted them to do a Superman game, so the Lois and Clark bits were neat. The Cel-Shaded style animation is perfect. Not sure if it’s the same animation team as Star Wars Resistance but I thought it was neat then too. Somehow we yet again have a fodder of baddies for the JL to fight and yet again acquaint themselves from it all. However the personal touch on the characters (Clark’s doubt on whether he’ll tell Lois the truth) and the newer roles some of them take (Wonder Woman aiding Argus with Steve and Cyborg as employees) make for quite a compelling start. Black Canary’s okay. Not sure on her design yet, but I hope I get to like her as well. Gameplay-wise I totally see the “Tomb Raider Reloded” inspiration. It was a fantastic idea for a mobile game so it doesn’t surprise me to see it replicated. That game did it with such mastery that here it feels a little tacky and like it’s still in pre-production. Though I’m not sure if the game is in a beta-like state, because the menus also look rough. If it is then I understand, great games go through multiple phases, usually not open to the public but if not then…I guess I’ll take it for what it is and enjoy the story.
This game has been a lot more enjoyable than I thought it would be. The gameplay is pretty fun and the story seems like it’s gonna be very interesting. I also love the fact that ads are completely optional and you can use them to get coins and such. Instead of them being shoved in your face with no benefits. I guess my only gripe is that fact that it’s a bit laggy sometimes, especially in menus. Otherwise it’s really great! Hopefully that will be fixed soon. Also I’d love to see the stickers you can use in the live chats be usable in a regular message app because they’re so cute! Can’t wait to see the rest of the story!
