Reviews: What People Think About FocusGenie: ADHD Manager

I’ve really enjoyed using the to do list especially because if a task is not completed it automatically rolls over to the next day so I do not forget tasks as often. I love that in the moment I can add to my list whereas with paper lists I would think of something in the go then forget by the time I was around my paper list. The learning modules can be nice as well. I do wish the app worked more consistently. At least a few times a month it will open but I cannot get it to respond. Update: I love how responsive and thoughtful the customer service is in regards to the one issue I’ve had. They instructed me via email to reinstall the app which so far has solved the issue

I really appreciate the time and intention that has gone into developing this app. If it worked as intended it would be such a helpful tool in my day to day life managing my adhd. However, there are quite a few bugs. The to do list doesn’t allow you to check things as complete. The to do list has also frozen, not allowing my to add items to the list unless I completely close the app and reopen it. When you finish a learning module, you get an error message saying it doesn’t register that you’ve finished. The focus tracker where you can record the status of several adhd management factors doesn’t register what I input and I get an error message saying it failed to update. Very excited about this app, but the number of bugs makes it a lot less helpful than anticipated. The highlight of the app has been the learning feature. The modules provided are so intuitive to what folks diagnosed late (41 years old for me!) would want to learn and the info is super digestible.

I was quite excited to try this app, unfortunately it has really failed to live up to what I was hoping for. As it’s a new app, I wouldn’t mind the bugs others have pointed out, however with such a short trial period (frankly, way too short even without the bugs), I feel like I’m paying to beta test it. I so think the educational content is quite good and well presented for us adhd types. Outside of that, there is very little to recommend in this. A very rudimentary to do list, a timer, and a scant selection of focus music provide nothing that is not easy to find and free. I would really love to see (and what I was really hoping for and am yet to find) is a much more robust to-do list/task manager and calendar designed for people with adhd. Having something like that integrated with the educational content and focus/study tools would make for a heck of a powerful adhd management app.
