yope: friends-only pics

I know this app is trying to expand in the US and all. I tried getting it with my friends and it really just didn’t click with us. The AI walls are cute, but snapping each other on Snapchat is much easier and convenient instead of trying to get everybody to move to a new app. The whole streak thing and needing to feel safe to post is just eh. It just didn’t really work out. I’d rather use the app that all my friends are on already and I feel comfortable using because my I like my social media that I already have. I ended up trying the ambassador program and just had a bunch of people I didn’t even know on my wall so in reality, I didn’t feel comfortable posting on it because I didn’t know anybody and none of my friends in the US wanted to move to the app. I could see this being a good app, but not for me.

I really hate that this app immediately insists on collecting data, gaining access to your contacts, and prevents you from accessing basic features until you send invite links. I tried reaching out to out to their support with the email on their website to delete my account and the it bounced saying the email doesn’t exist. Same thing with the email provided in their privacy policy. I managed to fight through the onboarding process by just sending invite links to myself and delete my account from within the app itself, but I have little faith this actually did anything considering my experience with the contact information on their website and legal documents. Thankfully I didn’t provide my legal name (they require you to enter a both first AND last name, btw) but I’m still miffed I handed out my phone number. I’d just stay away from this.
