The Secret of Cat Island

It has the elements for a great long term game but does have room for improvement. The initial start is friendly and explains all the mechanics but the energy drain quickly hits most players. It takes a full energy bar to clear single large resource blocks with some maps often requiring multiple days use of energy to progress the exploration quests. That said there are ways to bypass the slow build up of energy such as cooking and leveling your character. Cooking seems like a good approach but the highest energy I can get at my level(13) restores less then a 1/3 of what it takes to remove a large boulder or a large tree. Some cooking recipes also take multiplied steps and large amounts of ingredients making the early game items more valuable then later game such as pumpkin which serves little purpose currently. Regardless of energy balance the game is very addictive to unlock and expand the areas. I would like to be able to decorate and place buildings closer. Decorations would be better if they could overlap the squares for buildings to appear on the side of the houses for example. Overall still a very fun game and fits with casual gamers.

Low key.. the best game app out there. so much so, that I almost fear, by even writing this, I might be putting the integrity of the game in jeopardy- For if the creators might read this and decide to charge. But as it is, it is the most consistently engaging game I’ve ever experienced in a phone app. There’s enough plot that you feel like there’s purpose for what your doing and while also giving you reasonable controls over the creativity of how you design your island in a humble and appreciated way. A bit of freedom of choice mixed with freedom from choice. And you can tell the DEVs are working on it. Never have I once been upset by a server crash, for the mere reason that I know there’s a team out there working on something awesome. It’s new and evolving, and time is as valuable as money. You can choose to pay for things, I haven’t, because I do not allow myself such little joys. But I should, if I’m honest, because they are so cool for giving us this. I should give back. We should give back. Top Notch Game!

The aesthetic of this game is beautiful. I’ve been looking for a farming game, but aesthetic is very important for me to keep my interest. People who say this game is slow moving/going do not know how to play this game. It is energy based but I hardly ever have problems with getting energy. You can get energy from various aspects of the game (Tetris, clouds, food, selling items, gifts from game daily, etc). There are also no ads unless you want to watch them to either get more energy or Tetris pieces. But you do not need ads to progress in the game. You also do not need in ad purchases to progress in the game. I’m excited to see how this game will evolve. I hope there will be more decorations and to make decorations more personal and personalized (maybe more color options for decorations like there is with the houses). The only thing I do not like is the edit feature. There is no edit mode so it does make it a little more tedious to decorate your island, but I’m sure they will add this feature. I would like to one day be able to visit my friend’s islands and maybe have my own little cat avatar. For how new this game is I am throughly impressed with this game so far and recommend it to my fellow cat lovers.
